Avoid. Utter sh#te. The plot and dialogue are horrible.

Just rewatch the first one again. It's the same movie, just a lot better.

I saw the first one at the cinema when it came out and thought it was shìt.
Still can’t believe the praise it gets.
Cartoonish villain Joaquin Phoenix has Russell Crowe’s family killed.
Russell Crowe swears that he will one day avenge their deaths and then many boring hours later, hey you’ll never guess what, he avenges their deaths.
What a load of bollocks.

No idea why anyone of any intelligence would go and watch this moronic, mass-market horse manure. Try a slice of von Trier or Wim Wenders, and you might find out something about yourself.

Poll: What points will we get from our 'Festive 3' (Swansea A, Norwich A, Watford H)?

Should've gotten James Cameron to do a sequel to Ridley Scott's Gladiator and call it Gladiators. Missed a trick there.

I’m still waiting for Titanic 2. The ghost of Rose (Kate Winslet) husband shows up to find out why her spirit went to a bloke she knew a week and shagged once instead of the man she was married to for 50 years?

Feels like this thread is perhaps more for those who prefer to read than watch films, or at least films of the blockbuster action variety.

The original Gladiator is a fantastic film. But if you are looking for a thriller, suspense drama, or horror film it’s perhaps not your cup of tea

Feeling a bit down after yesterday and seeing QPR in such a mess plus Marti walking the tightrope I went to see it at the 10pm show last night.
This thread is pretty much in agreement that both Gladiator movies are horrible but I enjoyed both for different reasons .
However Gladiator 2 is a strange one and and its nowhere close to the original as happens most of the time.
I thought Denzel Washington was a good guy in this movie but boy was that the wrong info .
If anybody needs to forget about QPR just go see it and remember the sharks circiling are not for Marti

I really liked the first film when it came out but have to admit I don't think it's worn well.

Saw it last week...it was ok...the time passed quickly and i didn't clock watch.

But Mescal has not a fraction of the screen presence of Crowe and some of the scenes were ludicrous. Denzel W was v good though.

I've seen the original Gladiator 4 or 5 times over the years. I'll never watch this one again. 5/10

Went last weekend and yes, if you read this thread first and assume it will be awful (I did) , you might be pleasantly surprised (I was).
Not a great film by any means IMHO but some great epic scenes in it with a lot of historical accuracy (they really did stage naval battle re-enactments in the Coliseum apparently - incredible) and excellent attention-to-detail. Worth a watch.

Its a bit like me heading down to Loftus Road each home game and believing that I am going to see something different, something more thoughtful, creative, well-executed (no puns intended), but it is the same as I saw last year and yet I still go, enjoy it for the most part for the nonsense it is and then tell myself that I'm not looking forward to the next one...until the next one comes along!

We keep reading the same script - as do the other teams- but they can improvise, we cannot!

I cannot now get the image out of my head that all those to be sacrificed in the West London arena are dressed in blue and white hoops and then the Lions, the Tigers, and Black cats tear them apart and Blue Birds, Robins, Hornets, Canaries, Swans all come and pick at the carcasses. Even the usual sacrificial rams can have a feast!

Some ChatGPT stuff for you ...

"The depiction of Roman emperors using a "thumbs down" gesture to condemn gladiators to death, as often seen in Hollywood films, is likely a historical misconception. The actual gestures used in ancient Rome remain a topic of scholarly debate, but here's what is generally understood:

Pollice Verso (Turned Thumb): Ancient sources, such as Roman texts and mosaics, refer to "pollice verso," meaning "with a turned thumb." However, it does not explicitly clarify the direction of the thumb (up, down, sideways) or its exact meaning.

Historical Interpretations: Some scholars suggest that a "thumbs down" (a gesture Hollywood popularized) may not have meant death. Instead, it could have indicated sparing the gladiator's life, as it resembled a sheathed sword. On the other hand, a gesture mimicking an extended thumb (perhaps upward or toward the chest) might have symbolized an unsheathed sword, calling for execution.

So, Thumbs Down means live, not die. From what we do know, anyway!
But if you ask Foxshite News this is just the woke liberal mejia trying to use facts again :P
