Sinclair Armstrong on 13:16 - Mar 17 by GaryHaddock | Dunno, just a player I respect really. Thats enough reason for me. |
Totally agree he gave a 100% whilst he was here and was a decent prospect We sold him and bought in Celar , if he wanted to comeback then I would have him back like a shot Him & Kohli together would be worth watching
| And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

Sinclair Armstrong on 13:19 - Mar 17 by GaryHaddock | There was a big mouth who unironically looked like Keith Lemon queuing up at WC tube on Saturday telling anyone who‘ll listen that we were quiet for the home team and this was our big final. One QPR old boy told him he didn’t hear a thing from the away end but had a hearing aid to be fair. |
Well, what can you expect? Leeds do play at B-ellend Road, after all
| "Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1." |

Really hope he doesn’t get any abuse in the home game, he tried his eccentric bollox off for us and earned us money. Despite his obvious limitations one of the most exciting players we’ve had in a while

Weird If I had a free day and had played previously at another club and had an opportunity to go and watch an old club with a few of me old muckers attempting to play football, I would go. We are not in a world today, where anybody is tied to one club throughout their career. If he was engineering a move then would be p*ssed off a la Teacher Beale !! Footballs his job and his hobby. Why not spend a day watching elsewhere.

Wasn't that more to do with it being during covid and it technically counted as breaching whatever the rules were at the time - don't think they were too fussed about him coming to see us more that he hadn't followed correct protocols at the time to do so

Well the rules were there for us all. Unless you were the health secretary and fancied fingerblasting a colleague. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I totally get your sentiments and that generally of this thread, but I can't relate to it. I rarely give a stuff about any player once they leave us, for whatever reason really. Perhaps only Eze the exception, and Macca of course, and the sell on got quite a lot to do with that. But surely we didn't "cash in" on Armstrong without his consent? I know I am gullible to these things, but didn't he refuse to sign a new contract? So yes, our offer may have been 10p and a packet of Chewits, but I don't care. He ain't in the blue and white hoops anymore so up yours is my simplistic view. But also, why on earth would we clap him? I don't get that at all. He has lots of talent but played like a complete arse most of the time and when he did score embarrassed us all with his celebrations. He may have scored at Leicester to put us 2-0 up but his ridiculous celebrations only served to stoke up the long-dead home crowd. I see very little to clap the man about? I cheered him to the rafters when he was ours, I enjoyed his running about, I believed he would come good.....then he left. Bye.

Sinclair Armstrong on 16:35 - Mar 18 by nick_hammersmith | Yeah, I don't think its anything too serious. The most local team to SKY HQ is still the mob from Twickenham. It's more SKY's focus on a "popular" Champ team every year, like some sort of fairytale story as they follow them for a season. Sometimes its Wayne Rooney's Derby County, or whoever Scott Parker is boring to death. I don't think Comcast are that clever, they already paid too much to buy SKY anyway ;p The betting company has to have a glass wall for legal reasons |
It doesn't have a glass wall though. It's a separate company owned by the same group as Paddy Power and Betfair. They just pay Sky for the name. They've had no involvement since 2018 and sold the majority stake a decade ago

Sinclair Armstrong on 15:16 - Mar 18 by LazyFan | Sky pushes Leeds as Sky Bet is based in Leeds. So, its like looking after your own up north. Its all happening in Leeds you see otherwise, some new Sky CEO shuts it down and moves it elsewhere as it could be anywhere. So, Leeds must be made to look great constantly in ALL ways. So, Leeds lot in Sky feel the need to push Leeds as a happening place as they feel insecure competing with London (which is where it really is all happening). This message translates right across Sky as "push Leeds hard as it helps Sky Bet as they are based in Leeds". And as a result you then get a lot of Leeds fans in Sky and the merry-go-round we have seen for some years now. I have no evidence of this except working in many corporates, when one HQ has to compete with another that happens to be in London, that other one usually poos its pants and doubles down on how great it is (when it isn't) and tries to compete with London as a whole city (stupid idea). It makes little diff, they shut it down anyway and move it. The only time I have not seen this done is Nationwide based in Swindon, who keep shutting down London offices and then reopening them as they have to. When you employ everyone in Swindon and then need new skills, you end up in London anyway. In that company, the Swindon lot actively try to get your fired if you work from London. They love it when the London office is closed. |
I didn't realise Sky Bet is in Leeds. But surely the main reason Sky Sports show Leeds so much is because they're a "MASSIVE" club with a big fan base (which in theory means bigger TV audiences for their advertisers). They're freshly relegated from the Prem, and highly likely to do well and go straight back up - and that's how it's turned out. Assuming Leeds get promoted, it's not so clear which team Sky will be obsessed with next season.
