Accidently spilt water on my laptop.
Now the cursor doesn't work.

if its just tap water you may get luckey turn it off, then turn it upside down near a heat source and leave it for 48 hrs. (so the liquid wants to run away from the k/b & mainboard)
Maube put a kitchen towel over the lcd panel
If you can take the back off even better disconnect the battery.
If you give me a model number I can quote an aprox repair cost if its still broken in a day or 2. | |

Dont do what i did some time ago, when my phone got water damaged.
Some smart Alec gave me his genuine advice to put the phone in the airing cupboard. Suffice to say, in similar circumstances, he would not be in my top 100 people to ask for help again. |  |

Mine was tea. Opened up the laptop, removed the keyboard, mopped up everything I could then put it on the radiator to dry for a day or so. All fixed.
Next time, not so lucky, a few keys stopped operating. Found a replacement keyboard on ebay for something like 15 quid, all good.
Never dropped alcohol on it, that would be a waste. |  |

The good news? A local repair shop replaced a board and fixed it  .

Not laptop-related but similar: My TV remote started to malfunction so I dismantled it (eventually), washed the rubbery keypad thing in the sink with Fairy Liquid and used Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol (behave) to clean what I now know to be the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) with a cotton ear bud. To my amazement it now works perfectly again. Used the ear bud method on my Bose CD player too when it kept displaying error messages. | | | |

The rubber bits just need a conductive coating, old trick when spares weren't available was to glue tin foil to the back of rubber bits! | |
