Have we covered "I swear" yet? It's a powerful film about a Tourettes sufferer growing up in an era when the condition was yet to be recognised.
"Joyride" is also excellent. Set in Ireland, it sees a quirk of fate throw a teenager from a troubled family together with a woman - played by Olivia Colman - who has just given birth to an unwanted child. Poignant yet full of humour.
"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Surprisingly, the new Evil Dead film (Evil Dead Burn) is absolutely brilliant.
Evil Dead (2013) and Evil Dead Rise weren't very good so this was a complete surprise. It captures the feel of the first one but with very elevated effect work.
The ending was a bit nubs but horror films are like rap tunes, they hardly ever nail the ending. It wasn't terrible though. Just a bit heavy on CGI.
Anyway, 4.5 out of 5 for me (on Letterboxd).

'Everybody Digs Bill Evans' is a limited release film about the well known jazz pianist who's probably best known for his work with Miles Davis on Kind of Blue.
It's filmed in black and white and is introspective and understated, befitting Evans' personality. Despite ultimately being sad, it's beautifully made and would be appreciated by jazz fans, particularly those who love Bill Evans work.
The Uprising is a portrayal of the 1381 so called 'Peasants Revolt'. As it's a historical event I know well, I was keen to see the film, but knew there were some wild inaccuracies in it. It does pretty well up until the meeting between the rebels and King Richard II at Smithfield. Sadly, it then descends into complete nonsense.
That said, I actually quite enjoyed it and liked how 14th century London looked. Wat Tyler and John Bell, the 'heroes' of the rebellion, are played well enough, although Jack Straw (not the politician) is missed out, and Richard II is good too.
It's a shame it followed most other films set in medieval times in depicting ordinary people as dirty and unkempt. That's another historical inaccuracy and a rather Monty Python-ish idea of those times.

I watched Animals starring Ben Affleck, so you don't have to.
Complete waste of time, and stuffed full of mindless Netflix AI recaps for people who aren't paying attention.
Saw The Social Reckoning. Really really good. Just when i thought i couldn't hate Facebook and Zuckerberg any more than I do, that film propelled me on.
Watched Heart of the Beast. I really wanted this to be good , but it was a bit daft. Odin the dog should get an Oscar though. Emotional ending. Not a classic by any stretch.
Occasional providers of half decent House music.

Tenzing a movie about the first successful ascent of Mount Everest from the perspective of Sherpa Tenzing is a pretty decent film.Great scenery and mountain climbing scenes as well as the human story behind it all.

Think you called it fella.
Because Mrs PH has to see the credits in their entirety, I saw that Odin was played by four different dogs. But you're right, he steals it.
Don't want to spoil it, but in the end, Brad Pitt still looks better than one of our players recovering from a big injury and is more likely to play for us than Obikwu.
Saw Pressure at the weekend also very good. Was told i needed to see it on the big screen rather than wait for it to arrive on the platforms. You can wait for it to arrive on the platforms.

Really enjoyed this as well.
I like that it focuses on Tenzing rather than Hillary or the British. Gives it a more human touch.
"The opposite of love, after all, is not hate, but indifference."
In a similar mode but not as serious, I watched Fall 2. The first Fall was about two women stuck on a tower. This one is about two other women stuck on a mountain in Thailand.
For me, it's just a film about stupidity. And at no point does the FX team sell the illusion that they are on a mountain.

Can Odin play Saturdays ?
If not, maybe we can get four similar looking, specialised players to cover one position. A Moneyball meets Wardog theme.
Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

Cheers dmm, looked forward to this when I first heard about it, but some of the lukewarm reviews - this included! - and the interview Greengrass did with Kermode have dampened my enthusiasm somewhat.
