I have a history of really liking players who go on to be terrible.

Steve Salde - I really thought he had it
Dicky Pacquette - I think did have it but too much too young

My new one is Beanie and I hope he comes good. The little I have seen of him I like. Willing runner, energy, does have an eye for where the chances are, came close a couple of times yesterday and like that he had the where-with-all to get close to his chances, and a little more playing time will only make him better.

Maybe a loan would suit but either way I think there is a good little player there.

I thought he was a very mixed bag yesterday. He does seem to find himself in some decent positions and work rate is good. He's not particularly quick or skillful though so not sure winger is his position. I was a bit frustrated with him yesterday but need to remind myself he's only 19. There's potential there. If we didn't have so many injuries a league 1 or 2 loan until the end of the season would have really helped.

I liked the look of Bennie yesterday. He looks to get involved. He didn’t shy away from a big game. Interestingly he got into positions that other players didn’t mind giving him the ball, that shows they trust him.

I thought he needed to improve his decision making and be more instinctive. He did make the mistake for their goal in losing the free man, just needs to own it and move on (we won, it’s OK). Had a few chances to score, believe in yourself Dan.

If the lad knuckles down, listens to the manager, and keeps pushing for a playing spot while he has the opportunities around our injuries he could progress nicely to push on next season. If he’s not around the squad next season, teams will be queuing up for a loan - they’d be stupid not to.

His link up and ball retention is good, seems to be struggling to beat his man but it will come.

I like the lad, a goal would give him some confidence.

He's 19.

Compare how he's performing with players of a similar age we have had in the past, and he is head and shoulders above them for consistency. Yes, he was at fault for the goal today, and that'll happen with young players. What matters is how he learns from it, and everything we've seen so far suggests that he is taking things on board.

He's outperforming the Development Squad, hence getting games for the first team. If he can maintain that growth, in 3 or 4 years' time he's going to be brilliant.

In the 2nd half he pulled a really tricky ball down superbly with 1 touch & retained possession. Maybe should have done better with the chances on goal he had & marking for their goal but didn’t hide at all for a youngster.

Looks like plenty of potential

I was very impressed with Bennie. I'm not having the line that he was to blame for the goal, that is on Edwards and Dunne.

He made a couple of errors in dangerous places, should have scored at least one, yet he was involved in the buildup to the equaliser, got himself in good positions and he is only 19.
If the injuries hadn't hit us then I think he was due a loan to L1, so he really needs minutes here now.

Bennie lost his man for the goal, he knew it as well and had his head in his hands aftrerwards

Other than that I thought he did alright when he came on, got better as the game wore on

Of course he has to take a large part of the blame for their goal: he was with the guy in the centre but when he peeled off to the far post he didn’t move and left him unmarked to score. He played well yesterday but not at that moment.

Can't fault his work rate but hasn't shown much quality. Hopefully he will improve.

Yesterday was the first time i thought Bennie has shown some real promise.

Thought he was excellent. Much better control, definitely a presence and almost scored but involved in some nice moves also.

Half this board criticising a 19 year old attacker with a handful of games to be at fault for their goal. Its our back four and the goalkeeper that are employed to keep the ball out of the net. He has his head in his hands because the opposition scored.

Their goal had nothing to criticise Bennie over with.

Great performance and an encouraging display from him yesterday, as i had yet to see much so far, but absolutely was really pleased with his effort and application.

For a 19 year old lad far from home in one of his first half a dozen games was for me - a performance of note.

Well done Daniel.

"Their goal had nothing to criticise Bennie over with."

Midfielders need to track their runners. From the highlights it looks like Bennie switched off for a split second and left his man spare to run round to the back post and score. I'm all for being patient and supportive with a young player but he could have done better with their goal. Surely it's okay to say that. He wouldn't want to be patronised. Part of the learning process is looking at your mistakes and trying to do better next time.

Yes but he had a very decent game. And tbh Walsh was way more at faul All the blame on the teenager whose main input is to attack and actually played well but some people only focus on the negative. Edwards, Cook, Dunne and Walsh more at fault.

Its like all the over the top flak Esquerdinha has received also.

They will know but thankfully, am certain JS will praise young players more than moan.

There will always be so many people looking to criticise when actually praise is due.
He is a teenager with a few appearances !!

Improving all the time and had his best game for us yesterday against one of the best teams in the championship. He's strong and smart, is a team player and seems very driven. I'm struggling to see many weaknesses and he looks to be finding his position on the right. He reminds me a bit of Josh Bowler and only 19.

Bennie has a large share of blame for their goal but overall all played well: both of those facts can be true and are not mutually exclusive are they?

I think we saw where Bennie can be very strong. He seemed to do a lot of water carrying work between Vale and Madsen. Like at the base of that triangle quite often. He's 19 and is learning. He has got deceptively electric pace.

Never knowingly right.

I think he did quite well. He missed the chances, but we know that he has scored some good goals so that will come with more self-belief and less anxiety. I think it was a good move to bring him on against their small left back and with Saito on I don't think we dropped below our quota of pocket dynamos
