Until a few months ago Andrew MW was a senior member of the 'Firm' and he is being investigated for crimes committed while he was a prince. It's therefore entirely legitimate to comment on the Royal Family, particularly as it's asserted he used that privileged position to perpetrate those crimes. |  | | |

Daniel Paddox's article 'Woke Madness' (Saturday 21 Feb.) may well raise an interesting point about the decline of respect for, bloody good chaps who have had a bit to much fun.
However, I'm compelled to point out, that if a chap's conduct were a little unbecoming, he knew what to do about it. Once the ladies had retired after dinner, he'd enjoy a good port, possibly a brandy and a decent cigar with some like minded fellows, where he'd enjoy a period of reminiscing.
Upon the decent fellows falling silent, the chap would politely excuse himself, go outside and upon hearing a loud bang, the 'issue' had been dealt with and the decent fellows would decide among themselves, whom should give the chap's grieving wife, a good straightner. As the chap would have wanted!
Come breakfast, everything resolved. Respectfully, the demise of doing the decent thing is the real woke madness here.

Don't forget not even twenty years ago the media portrayed him as Randy Andy and it was all a big laugh.
Reading former Royal Family employees talking about him, his rudeness, arrogance and his sense of self-entitlement, it's all very old school and has no place in a modern Royal Family.

As with all these things, it boils down to: Who knew what? What did they know? When did they know? And when they knew, what did they do about it?
Invariably the answers are: high ups; everything; early; and feck all.
There were long-running concerns about AMW and where this puts the RF in danger is if the court of public opinion holds that they haven't 'got in front' of this early, and if anything, were 'fudging' it.
One thing is for sure: the RF are urgently playing catch-up and this really is a crisis for them dwarfing Diana, Harry, and anything that used to slip out of Phil's mouth. | |
