| Our ‘goal’ today….why was it disallowed? on 18:55 - Feb 28 by ChrisNW6 | Obviously you can't be offside when the corner is taken, but I need to see it again to see if Smyth impeded the keeper when Kone headed the ball. |
You can't be in an offside position from the corner kick but you can be from the resulting header. The question then is was he interfering with play.

| Our ‘goal’ today….why was it disallowed? on 18:46 - Feb 28 by StreathamRanger | Just seen some highlights. I wonder if lino judged that Smyth had pushed the keeper. Looks like he might have. Regardless still incredibly soft and no need for it to be disallowed. |
That was my immediate first thought on seeing the replay from the linos view Streatham. When you see it from another view/angle it’s not quite as simple, seemed he fell into the goal with minimum contact from Smyth - looked like the usual push and pull that is sadly allowed to go on by refs these days.

He signalled for offside, not a foul.I’ve yet to see it the replay yet. The itv league highlights show had a feature about our club right at the end of the programme, but I missed it this morning. It might be worth a look for those interested.

| Our ‘goal’ today….why was it disallowed? on 19:12 - Feb 28 by Walnut | Offside. At the point of the header, Smyth was off and in the keepers sightline Frustrating but correct. |
This is 5’1’’ Smyth we are talking about? In the keeper’s sight line???

A published refs report would be helpful. [Post edited 3 Mar 8:13]

Its all moot, Utd would have just scored a 3rd if they needed. From the replay it looks like Smyth was fouling the keeper, although the Lino flagged for offside. Eitherway, Smyth didn't need to be on the corner, not sure what he was adding to the situation

Exactly! My first thought was he'd pushed/obstructed their keeper, but it seems the lino actually gave it for offside. Frankly, I'd have been annoyed if the roles were reversed and it wasn't given in our favour. Either way, it was typical Smyth. If he's not trying to get silly fouls, he's giving them away. Amazing that one of our only fit specimens also happens to be one particularly prone to bouts of maddening stupidity.

Smyth reminds me of a chippy pr1ck i used to play 7 a side with. Always wanted the ball, but wasn't actually that good. When something went wrong it was always arm waving and someone else's fault! Rounding the keeper and then having a brain fart is Smyth in a nutshell. If I was making a Fifa card for him then Fitness and Pace would be high 70's but Football Intelligence is going to be low, I'm afraid. If I'm Kone then I think Paul owes me a goal bonus for that one
