Just taken over at my non league faves Wealdstone. He's from Kingsbury I believe. Good luck Gary, and I'll enjoy following your progress. Bit of relief from QPR. Christ we could do with a Gary Waddock on the pitch right now.

As long as he's not in the dugout issuing instructions for us.

Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.

Waddock, like many in North West London, was born at Kingsbury Maternity Hospital on Honeypot Lane. Doesn't exist anymore, it was located on the Kingsbury / Queensbury line, buildings demo'd many years ago with not unattractive low rise blocks of flats currently occupying the plot.
Gary grew up in Stonebridge Park, was quite well known and generally liked, though I was not pally, he's 2/3 years younger than me, we knew who he was because of his association with the Rangers youth team.

Barnet play nearby now. Used to go to Underhill when I lived in Barnet...just a short walk for me. Still check look out for their score.

Well, you may be surprised to find out that Barnet's current ground is likely to be Wealdstone's next home. Might be a few years away, but a strong possibility if the Bees plans come to fruition.

Won on penalties in the FA Trophy yesterday so a decent chance of a trip to Wembley.

They’ve got a nice run of league games too so should stay up comfortably. I very indirectly know the previous manager who was popular and dealt with a bit harshly.

What we'd give for him in midfield now!

Can confirm he is great bloke. I've got one of his Adidas warm up tops, which he gave to my friend when they were on a course together.

Ditto that. Met him when he was managing Aldershot a few years back. That day they were playing Solihull Moors who Marcus Bignot was managing at the time.

One of my all time favourite QPR players, I'm Irish but still, great memories.

Gary and Alan Macdonald were manager and assistant manager when I was there. They were lovely humble people who had all the time for Rangers people. I used to be on the sidelines watching the sessions and felt the players never fully gave either of them a fair chance. Too many pi$$ takers.

Alan Mac was a coach educator and put on really high quality thoughtful football sessions and from my perspective I thought the players weren’t interested. It was if they didn’t want to think about the game or work on it. I really wanted them to do well and they had Rangers in their hearts. Paladini being around didn’t help.

John Gregory came in and got everyone jumping on each others backs.

Oh really? The Hive is the closest football ground to where we live (although we hardly ever go).

Suppose it would be good if another club moved in there, otherwise what would they do with the stadium?

That all depends on Barnet being able to move back into the borough, which seems a long shot at this point. The council made it very clear over many years that they didn't want to help them, so much nicer to have a middle class rugby club than an ugly and not very good football club. That's why they moved in the first place. I know they're trying to find a location within Barnet to relocate to but it's not going to be easy.

And even if that does come to pass, Tony Kleanthous won't do Wealdstone any favours at all. The Hive has all sorts of revenue-generating facilities, he won't want to lose them. At best I could see him renting the stadium to another team.

Some of the reasons the council gave for turning down planning permission on that new Barnet ground were hilarious.

Oh, I thought Barnet announced a new stadium last year, and it was a done deal with the council?

Yeah, I know Kleanthous can be a prickly pear, but they really don't bother hiding their disdain for the club.
