It was extremely disappointing as it would have set us up for a last twenty minutes or so of going after an equaliser with the crowd behind the team and we might even have got one.

Dunne was being manhandled for every corner we had. Ref does nothing. We sit in the Upper Loft. Couldn’t see what Smyth did on the keeper. Arsenal do something every week on the keeper in their games. It’s the inconsistency which is infuriating. | | | |

Sorry was at the game. I must have missed that. Did not hear the crowd around me feeling hard done by, on any penalty shouts. Cant remember one close call at all.

To me from Lower Loft near SA Road the Lino seemed to be signaling with his flag for offside which could not be right. If it was for a foul on the keeper then the ref would give this not the lino: how the feck could the Lino see and call this from his position? The whole episode made no sense and destroyed the game. |  | | |

You can't be offside direct from a corner as the ball is going backwards from the kicker. Smyth was given offside from the header as he was standing in front of the keeper. There was no foul and it was flagged as offside. |  | | |

Smyth was tight on the keeper when the corner was taken but at this point, not offside. At the point Kone heads the ball, Smyth is in an offside position. The lino thinks that he is impeding the keeper at this point (I don't think he is) and flags.
If he is interfering then probably a third of goals from corners should be disallowed. You just know we will concede the same corner in the next few games. Frustrating |  |

Lino deserved all the abuse he got. He was wrong and the ref too weak to overturn it. I know bad decisions are supposed to balance out over the season but I seriously doubt that is true. | | | |

It was not offside, Smyth was not interfering with play as he stood off the keeper by about a yard just as the header was met from the corner.
That goal should have stood; it was a stupid decision.
The game was lost, though, when Varane decided to give SU a pure charity. He should have booted it upstream; he had a small go at Esq, but Esquidina had no other option as the SU press was good. He should have balloned it. |  |
