My uncle's brother tells me draught Bass is on tap again in some pubs in the midlands. I've not seen it doon sooth but I found out Tesco have it in bottles at…..£1 a pint ! Only 3.4% but quaffable, earthy taste and fine before moving on to a beer with a bit more wallop.
Always thought it was an Irish beer, purely because of this ad.
Thanks for that Brian. I started my teenage drinking with my cousin and his mates in Wexford in the early 70s. Bass was one of a few draught beers that were available, along with Smithwicks, Harp Lager and Guinness and maybe occasionally Murphy's and Beamish. I think that was it. The notice at the end of the ad says brewed at Beamish and Crawford in Cork, which explains why it was available.
Yeah, you see it about down south. As said earlier, they always have it at the express tavern in Kew, they had it at the Duke of York in Hanwell the other week (Which they have done up massively) , as well as some other places like the famous Royal Oak in Muswell Hill.

What's famous about the Royal Oak? One Sunday lunchtime I saw that Turkish bloke who appeared in early Eastenders episodes having a drink there.
