I think (and hope) that we'll sign more players for central midfield, but I still see no reason why Alemayehu can't play a lot in midfield this year. After all, it is a problem area, and one where we've lost two bodies.
He is nearly 20, after all, and a player that was playing first-team domestic and continental football when we bought him.
The only concern might be his strength, but he's as strong as Morgan was when he started two years ago.
I'm trying to keep a lid on my enthusiasm for Alemayehu until I see him play against a few good Championship sides. But, as long as we don't have to rely on him and give him time to ease into first team football, I have real hope for the lad.

Alemayehu is not that big, so I wouldn't expect him appearing in many games. As we always say on here, he could do with a loan to bulk up. I'd still put Morgan ahead, purely based on physicality for the Championship.

A bit of ropey / wide open defending from us first half and not a huge amount of full tilt play to judge much by. But still better than the Spain v Argentina game.
Saw the highlights and Charles looked like he made a couple of decent saves. Don’t like the black numbers on the home kit. I think should only ever had the red numbers.

Without wanting to overpraise the guy, and allowing for him being well behind Kone and Burrell in the pecking order, he has done a decent job for us on more than a few occasions and also seems to me to offer something a bit different up front.
If he's not actually agitating for a move I think he would be a very useful squad player for us.
Of course there's the persistent rumours about attitude/difficult family members but it's hard to comment on that since it's all just rumours.

IF it’s true - and as you say it’s all rumour - it wouldn’t make much sense tactically either. IF the club want him out, they could actually tout him round as a highly desirable player: not many strikers of his age have his goal rate. We should be putting him in the shop window to boost the price. If he is frozen out no club is going to offer serious money for him. (Unless he has already gone and we simply haven’t been told yet.)
