Our "new" floodlights remind me of the Subbuteo ones I had in the 1970s. They looked quite stylish but did a very poor job of actually illuminating the pitch  .

I think the op in general has a valid point as in most teams in the prem and in the championship there is indeed a high percentage of players who are black.
This next comment also is an observation, but there is also a high percentage of black men that play in the attacking positions and are very often the flair players of the team.
Its massively noticeable in teams from 20 years ago to present day and the reason, there is a greater majority of black players now, is they are selected ahead of others, because of their qualities and talent and thats the point for me, that is interesting. Admittedly there are more opportunities too.
I do remember when South Africa were attempting to move away from apartheid, rugby union national team there was a requirement to have a certain number of black players and likewise white players in the first teams selected.
To keep up the quotas both ways often they ended up having to leave better players out of the team, thus playing a weakened team.
It is very evident that black male footballers by way of comparison with white players there are many more selected, because they are more talented in relation to how many black and white people play the game.
Dont see any racist overtones in discussing this.
Its just a statement of fact. A surprising stat though.
Its like perhaps there is a greater propensity to develop talent ie players of Indian and Chinese ethinicity are very under represented in top level football and how many blacks, men and women do you see excel in swimming. Also, conversely, the level of top quality sprinters, people of black ethnicity dominate these sports.
There are always exceptions but in general , percentage wise, evidence is very apparent.
Its an interesting observation and am sure someone somewhere has done some kind of research analysis to offer reasons as to why and how these kind of anomalies in sport happen. |  |
