There is a few youtubers that big us up last season and this.
We have put in some amazing performances recently interspersed with very middling ones too, but its promising that others seem to think we are onto something.
As pointed out on this thread, Ryan Dilks kept mentioning us as dark horses for the play-offs last season (when he was on the Second Tier podcast): https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/
I did watch this video the other day and came away thinking that he is just not aware of all the cracks that are being papered over at QPR.

QPR featured on football weekly this week and identified as contenders for top 6/8 although injury concerns were raised several times (again) We're mentioned from around 23 minutes 40 seconds through to 25 minutes 30 seconds

Its when we start to hear podcasters, youtubers, social media contributers and everyday journalists and us forum types that all actually follow the club and have done for decades and when all of these types start bigging us up, then we all will suddenly believe we have found the key to success.
Basically we all know the history.
It could all turn to dust as quickly as our star has risen. We are all hopeful without being completely naive to suggest we have finally found our long term success forevermore.
But it is decent to hear outsiders being impressed with how we are progressing.

Injuries aside, what cracks?

We've been preseason dark horses for at least 5 of last 7 years. These YouTubers with their AI researched content will keep chucking our name out there on the basis they will be right eventually.
I got bored of his script and left, I presume he avoided mentioning that a high proportion of our stellar signings are injury prone sick notes?

Good point that at a squad assembled for £20m its one of the cheapest in the Championship.
Also that Opta stats for expected points won to date this season have us 4th - behind 3 clubs that spent a combined £97m alone this summer, while we spent £500,000.
Those (minority) of fans who say slightly grudgingly "we are only where we should be after all the money we have spent" really are having a laugh...

Have a look at teams like Derby if you want to see a real injury list we ate about average. Ours just seemed worse because we never used to have cover.

Interesting point.
No idea what the average number of injuries is but I did go and look at the Swansea "Jack Army" forum match thread for interest (reasonable bunch, quite respectful of us before KO) and somewhere there complained of being beaten by a QPR "second string" side due to all our injuries, and I thought: who in our starting XI was really "second string"?
Adamson would've been pre-season but not now, I think. Most of us would have Madsen and/or Chair in, if fit, ahead of either Varane or Vale but neither of those are exactly a surprise as starters.
It has taken us years to get to this point, but we do seem to have a reasonable degree of cover and I think even the striker position would be OK if Kolli is included.

Still think a fit Burrell, Chair, Madsen and Lampety start. JCS borderline. But our “best 11” is not as clear cut as it was. Is Cirkin or Kember “first choice”? Neither would regard himself as a stand in the way Esquidinia must have done. The biggest change is we probably now have 8/9 players who can step in who are v nearly as good as the one he replaces. There used to be such a gulf.

Nice position to be in. And loved the 'next man up' mentality from Saturday.

Absolutely.
V hard to drop Smyth, Adamson or Kember now but few of us would probably have selected them at the start of the season.
Am not saying our current team is anything like as good as El Tel’s promotion winners (obviously) but it gives me similar vibes in that a Warren Neil or Gary Micklewhite or Tony Sealy could come in and the likes of Glen Roeder or Tony Currie left out, and although that bled an unbelievable amount of talent from the starting 11, the team as a whole could play just as well.
Early days oc….

I think Charles, Edwards, Dunne, Madsen and Kamara are the “guaranteed” starters if everyone is fit.

Kamara, unfortunately, is currently having to do big minutes because of our issues in that area. I'd be surprised if that was the intention when he signed given his lack of action the year before, and we'll be fortunate to get away with it if it has to continue.

Thoughts will soon turn to fresh meat in January. If Varane can't improve and Alemayehu isn't deemed ready to start, moves for a CM could be in the offing.

I think he was signed to start alongside Madsen as Stephan doesn’t fancy Varane. Whether he can give us 35+ games there this season, I guess we’ll find out soon enough!
