Favourite / Least Favourite Home Kits 14:19 - Mar 11 with 2927 viewsslmrstid

In the spirit of the "Away Kits" thread...here's another question for you that actually I can't see discussed very often (and even if it has, always good to bring some things back right? )

What's your favourite, and least favourite, home kit we've had over the years?

THE BEST
My favourites are joint - the 94/95 and 95/96 shirts - I know we went down in 95/96 but I loved the fact the shirt had the badge embossed in dots across the blue and white hoops, or the year before when its got the badge embossed across all the hoops (hard to explain unless you have one, they sell a retro 94-95 shirt in the club shop and you can see it on the hoops there).

https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn%3AANd9GcR7FlGMbca4Lym_Hzbbh5A97C

I do quite like any shirt we have that has red piping on the hoops too, I always see red as our "third" colour for home kits (the gold numbers this year, yuk). The 1997-99 shirts with the blue sleeves with "QPR" on them were alright too.

THE WORST
First of all, the teens Premiership kits - the thin hoops with the fat white top, the thin hoops with the plain white back, the normal hoops with the plain blue back in the Championship, all absolutely vile. An abomination to all Hoop-kind (in my view).

Also, rarely mentioned because its quite a while ago now and we were good that season which probably offsets it, but the 2002-03 home shirt with just the two big fat blue hoops I hated, three blue hoops, three/four white MINIMUM please.

Hopefully these image links work better than last time I tried it for the School End dot matrix scoreboard!

Worst, the Nike onion seller

Always loved the influence kits

Best: All of the 80s adidas Guinness/Holland Fly KLM kits were great but if I had to nail it down it'd be this:

Honourable runner up: The kit from the 2003/04 promotion season. A shirt with correct number of hoops and proper hooped sleeves

Worst: Any of those god awful template efforts that Nike supplied.
Runner up: 2002-03 kit. Hoops too wide and blue socks a no no.

Any particular reason why they've been stuck in a hot air balloon?

I thought the 2015-16 Nike one was good, only that the hoops did not go all the way round...

I also quite liked the View From one (even if we got relegated in it), it was just made worse the following season when the Ericsson logo was literally stuck over the Compaq one.

The Dryworld one is probably my favourite from a material/fit/style perspective. Very smart.

I was wearing this in work the other day as my running shirts needed an airing as they smell of smoke.

Still my favourite away one.

Whenever anyone in our family wear a home kit, someone always asks what the special occasion is -- as if the person is wearing a tux.

I like all the home kits. At first I hated the thin hoops of a few years back, but it has turned into the one I wear the most and I really like it.

Dennis the Menace is my favourite kit of all time -- but obviously its not a home kit

Can't remember what season, perhaps 92/93, but i liked the black away kit with 'CSF' Written on it.

Whenever i wore it, I felt like one of those blokes from offsite data storage companies that show up at your office with those cardboard boxes with files in them from 1982.

We are the ‘Supa Hoopsa’, any kit that strays from this basic tenant should be viewed with suspicion.

I will wholeheartedly agree with the nomination for the 2003-04 (and 2004-05 shirt) as that was an excellent one.

If my memory is correct, that 2003-2005 period is the last time we had a homeshirt for more than one season I think...?

Quite wasteful really when you think of it with changing shirts every year! What on earth happens to all the kit these clubs get through every year...?!

Too many worst kits to mention but the one from a few years ago where we abandoned the hoops and the back of the shirt was all blue was probably a low point.

Two favourites, the 1987 fly KLM Adidas kit and the 1989 influence kit, worst kit has to be the Nike one with the plain white back bar a couple of hoops at the bottom.

Always liked the Le coq sportif Car Giant Kits. They looked good and were comfy to wear. They were the last ones before lotto and the monstrous Briatore badge. We had a couple of weird out of the catalogue lotto away kits with gulf Air as a sponsor. The red with blue trim never really agreed with me. Not too convinced with the black and yellow either. Didn’t really feel QPR to me.

Red 82 FA cup final top was my first too. Got it for my birthday as a kid. I was disappointed that it wasn’t the blue and white hoops, but tried not to let it show to my dad, as I know how hard it was for him to get it!!

I love my Brooks home shirt and my Classic Fm away shirt, probably cos of the teams that played in them.

Worst kits: the Premier League tops (apart from the red and white quarters) - remember that orange one? ugh!!

Least favourite away, do we even need to ask? Oh, home.

Well, obviously, it must be fitted. These guys are athletes. Don't want a fcuking sack of potatoes. Just because the fans are often overweight we shouldn't be punishing the first team for it.

Obviously not too many hoops either.

The most beautiful QPR kit there has ever been/we could ever get would be the Argentina rugby kit, which is always better than ours.

This home shirt is the best for me. No sponsor's name. Agreed, too many dreadful away kits to choose, but I thought the pink one was embarrassing.

These are my golden rules for our home kits:

1: 3 blue hoops only!
2: White should be the main colour. Sleeves, shorts, socks should all be white.
3: Highlights/piping should be red or blue.
4: NO DEEP V collar!!!!

I actually liked last seasons home kit.

95/96 is a special one as it was my first kit and my first season watching the R's.

Le Coq/Car Giant kits were good.

This is a good read: http://qprkits.blogspot.com

Also...I hope the club starts selling adult home shirts without the sponsor on. That would be amazing.

The Guiness with the blue sleeve trim is my all time favourite home shirt but next for me would be the Compaq ones.

My favourite away shirt, which I still wear to home games, is the Classic fm Dennis the Menace shirt.

The grass is always greener.

Agree with Nov77 that 1979/80 kit (as modelled by Currie and Harkouk) was the best home.

I thought the Dryworld kit was the best in years.

By far the most beautiful QPR home shirt ever and one I have searched the web for since I gave mine away back in the day.The next version of this shirt had way more red trimmings and that one is readily available from the Retro section of QPR shopping and on Ebay.
I was poor and living on a farm back in 83 but coerced my Mother RIP into getting a cashiers check or post order to send to the Club shop at LR for this exact shirt.I found the address in a Match magazine (no internet those days )and I might as well have sent the letter and money to outer space.
A month or so later the brown package arrived with this exact shirt and I still feel the rush to this day.It felt like velvet to my fingers and colors so vivid they were stunning.Ok I will end my rant now must root for some pills

Great kit , great sponsor , and fantastic times Especially for a young whipper snapper QPR fan like me at the time

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

Apart from the orange monstrosity we wore away at Chelsea half way through the season, we lost 2-1 and spent the game singing “where’s our famous red and black”
