There seems to be on certain Qpr websites going on about renaming the Ellieslie road stand "stanley bowles stand" i can remember he constantly put in transfer requests and when he was turned down he would say according to newspaper reports "I will put in another one" that's not loyal in my book yes he was a great player for us but so was Rodney come to think of it I would prefer a loyal player to a skilful player who's more important loyal or skilful.. capt Macca comes to mind or even capt tony ingram with 548 appearances and a total of 50 years service with the Rs and what about the guy who put us on the map and what we are today Jim gregory... I could go on but come to think of it what's wrong with ellieslie road stand name its been there for over a hundred years a bit of history there... but there again that's my opinion.. |  | | |  |

I don’t get why we need to honour people. Achievements yes, people no. No one is perfect so don’t make out that some individuals are somehow superior. We should be seeking to inspire people to match and exceed achievements, not people.

Seems to me quite a bit of virtue signalling about this issue. If it's about achievements as a player for QPR well Dave Clement Ian Gillard Gerry Francis from that team all played more games for QPR the last being the first and last England captain to play for us.

I think it would be harsh to prevent the stand from being named after Bowles because he knew his value to the team and occasionally handed in transfer requests. Especially when one, I think, came after he was substituted at Upton Park in the FA Cup and took it personally, that shows passion rather than petulance in my opinion.
I like the idea of naming sections of the ground after former greats and would like to see one named after Jim Gregory too because, to go into the cliché, this is the club he built and the chances are that our post 1960 history would have been very different without his involvement in the club. |  | | |
