He's had Yaya Toure and now Ji Sung Park come to learn how to coach under his tutelage. He obviously commands a great deal of respect within football. It's been said many times, but I'll say it again, we are so very fortunate to have him at QPR.

Always makes me wonder why it went wrong when he was manager

Poll: Now it’s slightly clearer cut who do you want as manager ?

Perhaps it was too soon? He is a really wonderful coach and we are very lucky to have him here. Totally inspirational.

Never knowingly right.

A good coach is not necessarily a good manager.

It was a tough time for him to come in. Doomed to relegation. Then alot of expectation to bounce back but lots of players wanting out (Phillips, fer, Austin)

And let's not ignore the elephant in the room - his skin colour. Very, very difficult for black mangers to succeed. Totally wrong but that's the way it was (is). That is why it is really important that the likes of Viera makes a good fist of Crystal Palace regardless of what you think of either the club or the man. I personally am ambiguous to the club and have huge respect for Viera the player - it will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Also it's a very different job dealing with up and coming young players hoping to make it as footballers, rather than established players who have been round the block a few times.

Chris Ramsay obviously has the ideal skillset for the former but didn't really get a long enough opportunity to demonstrate whether he could also do the latter.

He's got the 'Coach Standing with One Foot on the Ball' look down pat.

Spot on! Asking the first team to do ball mastery warmups (Top taps, drag back V's, side to sides) might not go down to well with first team. U23's and younger aren't going to question or challenge this practice but the pros certainly will.

Can't really question his methods as a coach and relationships with younger players but a personality that divides opinion with his peers and if you’re not in his good books then you will know about it.

He’s a nice guy, nice guys often lack that streak of toughness required to lead.

Here in the US many top college coaches fail to make it in the NHL, NFL, NBA and MLB. There is a significant difference working with students to established pro’s.

Lovely wedding venue at berko - Town hall

I do strongly agree with the earlier point about skin colour. We are leaders in that field whereby we have the most BAME coaching staff ok the country more now with Park in the academy.

Perhaps Ji Sung Park could be given a shirt, at least during the AFCON period?

The fact we have a club now were youngsters are coming through and doing well is I'm sure down to appointing him.

I wouldn't have given a shirt to Park when he played for us. He may have been good at linking the play of ManU's superstars, but I struggle to remember a worse footballer ever playing for us.

CAN’T believe we’re giving Park the time of day after the way he robbed us.
I can only hope we’re now screwing him for an equally hefty wedge.

Park didn’t rob us. He was offered a stupid contract like any of use would have signed. Might have played poorly for us but unlike Boswinga he didn’t hide.

Anyway, back to this thread. I also feel that Ramsey is the main catalyst for the upturn of this club and closely followed by Hoos, Ferdinand and Warburton. We have a team at the top now that many a big PL club would envy I’m sure.

And one other thing, a good friend of mine, I’ve sent a link to this thread to him. His elder sister is Chris Ramsey’s partner. He has also explained to me the strategy that they are employing at the club and it does sound pretty impressive. We are in good hands.

I always felt that Park's lack of influence for us wasn't down to lack of effort. I also can't remember any bad mouthing of the club on his part.

Unfortunately for us, we signed a player from a big club where his talents were no longer thought to be good enough. At the tail end of his career, he struggled to perform in a team of old crocks and mercenaries, who had no real motivation to put in the effort once the initial results went wrong.

He was f***ked from day one. Both knees shot. Spotted by someone I know at a top end sports clinic in London just after he'd signed.

Fergie was getting shot of him just before he failed his MOT.....

Ji Sung Park made 25 appearances for us but I can't recall anything he did of note and barely remember him in the hoops.
