QPR Today 19:32 - Feb 19 with 2826 viewsextratimeR

I was actually quite pleased by what I saw, I've seen Hull recently take three points away to Blackburn, ( they deserved it but Ref was kind), and earn a deserved point at Bournemouth, ( and then of course sack the Manager).

I thought Warburton was very clever with his set up, with our usual formation we could have had a tricky time in the first Twenty minutes, but we held them and looked much better.

Must say I have been huge critic of Ojabajo but not today, excellent performance, great crosses, very quick in their half.

I really think we have got to be patient and grind out points. Happy with point, ( unless playback shows Assistant Referee cocked up and goal should have stood, in which case we were robbed!!!!)

I agree. We needed that goal and we looked pretty good after that. If we'd fluked a goal earlier I think we'd definitely have won that.

Excellent sub of Odubajo, who had one of his best games for us, although unlucky for Amos as he had looked one of our livelier players.

Hendrick looked neat, and always shows for the ball and links play.

Sanderson saved us near the end when a good ball was played into our box (think their guy was offside) and Sanderson pushed him wide and the attack was stifled.

Pissed off with the ref who hardly gave us anything and should have given them a red card. It wasn't a kick out it was a full blown kick. Also Hendrick could have got a pen when their player had both arms around him. Also their player blatantly kicks the ball away. No yellow. Somehow we end up with more yellow cards than them...

And poor Chris Willock got kicked up in the air again.

Sorry but CA can't run or jump and needs to be an impact sub until he gets fitter.

But we were much more in the game than in the last two matches. So happy to play much better and get a point.

Agreed. Anyone who travelled to Barnsley and Millwall will know how much better we were. We weren't at the levels we've seen previously but Hull are a good away team. and beat Bournemouth recently.

Some players weren't at the races today but more were than weren't and wit more luck and a right offside call, we'd have won 2-1.

In case anyone was wondering:

I'm not sure Austin won more than one or two headers today. He put himself about a bit more but still looks a long way off what's required at this level. If we don't go up it will be interesting to see who they bring in in the summer. I'd cash in on Dykes if we get a decent offer and look at buying one striker and maybe trying to get a decent loan from a premier League side. Can't imagine we'll be keeping hold of Gray.

I might be wrong but I think Amos sub was purely tactical, he had done a fine job getting in amongst their midfield and breaking their play up,

( personally I would have left him on as Hull wide midfield began to look very knackered).

Fair enough, I stand corrected. Maybe it was just the sheer number of headers he didn't win that made me think it was less than that. Not much quality delivery into the box for Charlie today either. Why the hell is Barbet still on corner duty?

Also, surely Sanderson won more than 4 headers, he seemed to be heading it clear all afternoon.

I must have been at a different game to the OP
We started like we did at Peterborough ie at a snails pace, we lacked creativity, pace and enthusiasm
The manager got it wrong from the start
We only started playing when Ingram was knocked sparko and even then we messed the corner up straight after
That’s 4 really poor teams we have played in 2 weeks and we have played pretty badly

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

We didn't win anywhere as many headers as Hull but we rarely do - our game is more on the ground and passed around.

Yes but it's 4 out of 13. I'd hope he'd be getting 50% rather than less than 33%. And zero out of five ground duels.

I don't want to call him out especially but I'd rather he came on towards the end than play as our main striker from the beginning,

Is that what you counted or is that a stat you’ve seen somewhere?

Can't agree about Amos. I thought he looked completely lost for some reason today. Not suited to that role further forward and the substitution was spot on.

You're dead right about Sanderson saving us at the end, that was top quality.

However, he's got to take a share of the blame for their goal. He was way too casual getting back into position to defend their throw in and got caught under the ball which led to their corner.

I can recall the header wide and another that missed his man, can't recall other two, won't repeat my previous comments but lost possession with his first five touches today, can't recall any runs in behind, plenty of crosses in today and can't recall him attacking any. Legend for many, but on current form, never a starter, injuries aside.

This is all about the lino’s piss poor positioning. From where he’s stood he’s judging it on the player next Albert as he can’t see the other one. On another occasion when willock got in over the top (and looked to have finally unlocked them) the first thing I did was look over at the lino , and he was head down sprinting, so had no idea, but of course then stops and raises his flag. Essentially, he knowing that it was a goal scoring opportunity, he guessed in favour of the defender as that won’t be shown back on TV and he gets off Scot free. Whereas if it’s a goal and he’s got it wrong he’s under scrutiny. The other Lino was just as bad. It clearly went out of play 3 times and he let it go. Serious sight issues

Thought in the first half yesterday we were very poor. Really didn't understand having your best creative force at left wing back. Yes he got some some space but he shouldn't be having to constantly track back. We looked unbalanced. Had one guy near me going on about getting the ball up top quicker but there was a lack of options. No movement. One of the reasons why it was passed backwards and sideways so much. Shows how good Wallace is for us. Charlie can't play as a lone ront man. Looked so off the pace it was sad to see and not quite sure what has happened. He has regressed since last season. Looked better once Moses came on but we wasted the first half. Dickie was a miss too. Although I sometimes think he over plays and might hold on to the ball too long when he goes on a run, the mere threat he offers by taking opposing players out the game gives opposition something to think about. Hopefully the suspension will help him recharge his batteries and come back stronger as he did look knackered the last few weeks

Passing sideways, passing backwards and playing slowly have all contributed to our recent malaise. But yesterday I was left wondering how to describe that spark that suddenly ignites as we saw in the second half, and particularly after Chair's goal?

Momentum? Confidence? Urgency? Determination? Purpose? With the opposition on the backfoot coupled with the home fans' surge of support it all adds up to a new hot fire in our bellies. But there's something rather indefinable about it.

Yep re the goal.

And the throw that led to the corner looked like his fault as well. Seemed to call for the ball but then let it bounce off his knee.

2nd half, and this is probably a bit harsh, but I thought he could have tried the odd run at Hull midfield.
