MOTM 10:15 - Mar 21 with 2276 viewsEastR

Clive has struggled in the past few weeks with MOTM selections and looked for some input before making his final choice.

Despite the result, and the performance, I think this week’s decision might be a more straightforward one.

He gave us energy in the midfield from the off, was positive in breaking forward from midfield when the opportunity was there. He even made the interception, for the assist that led to the assist, for his superbly taken goal.

Step forward Luke Amos, inexplicably hooked in the 58th minute.

Poll: Is time up for Ainsworth?

Amos is MOTM with a 7.
Westwood gets a 6, i'd probably give Gray a 6 as well despite fluffing the 1 on 1.

at the other end, Sanderson gets a 2, and he gets that 2 based solely on how well he took the ball down from a wayward cross-field pass from Dunne on the 15 odd minute mark, otherwise he'd be lucky to get a 1.

everyone else can have a number between those

Can we not knock it?

He wasn't successful, but I do want to give props to Ilias who was definitely trying in that last half an hour to do something. He didn't let his head drop and was driving and probing and full of energy.

Agreed. I'd probably give MotM to Westwood or Amos, but hope Ilias's mark reflects a busy, committed if ultimately fruitless performance.

Amos and Westwood probably the only competition for this one

Gray made a complete hash of a very easy goal scoring chance which would have sealed the win imo.

Although I’d imagine his conversion rate is probably not too bad given the crap service he receives.

Two very good goal scoring chances in 45 minutes is not crap service for any striker, unless it's the last excuse in the Charlie Austin playbook of many excuses, where it's always someone else's fault.

Nice easy one for Clive this week, ( no way would I want to write this match report), Luke, " any chance of finishing a game Guvnor?" Amos.

( Agree about Illias, we have a very good player, getting his form back, who can't be to impressed withs what's going on around him, I'm sure other Championship clubs are watching situation with a view to picking him up on the cheap, ( because the team is er not playing very well?)

Wouldn't be cheap because he has 3 years left on his deal I believe?

It's Chair for me. Tireless performance. Kept trying to create chances but we had no real presence in the box.

Amos was great in the first half but we needed to try something different at 3-1 down. Thomas and Austin trying to give us more of an attacking threat. Albeit it was a complete failure.

When there was that ludicrous injury stoppage on their byline it was noticeable how none of the players were really talking amongst themselves. They were all stood facing the direction of the injury and Chair was the only one I saw trying to gee everybody up. So fair play on that. He also seemed to play it a bit earlier and do less faffing about on the ball.

I thought McCallum played well in the first half - looking forward to him getting back to form. No idea about his second half to be honest.

Spot on.

And we didn't lose it in the second half, we lost it in the first when we stopped pressing high and hard.

It's always noisiest at the shallow end

Although if McCallum as a half decent Championship Wingback cost Norwich £ 3m, you can see why Warburton's needs more time when shopping in the £1m shop for young top half Championship ready players.

MOTM!!!? All I saw of Thomas on the stream was when he sliced a clever back heel from Hendrick high and wide from the edge of the box, and failed to be alert to a ball dropping over a defender, near the goal line, failed to control it and put it out for a GK.

Maybe our Jeff deserves a shout for his non-stop running and ghosting into the box to nearly score with his head in a team that never puts crosses into the box? Did similar at Blackburn away so maybe Warburton is seeing movement in the box that we as fans aren't.
