I've been listening to a lot of ex-R Phil recently. And found out a few things.
First thing was, he's not really a c unt. I read his book and thought he came across as a normal human being. Funny, annoying, talented, full of shit, hard working, easily hurt, well intentioned, faintly narcissistic and capable of making wonderful music.
He is that easy target that all the 'cool' crowd like to throw up on, whilst inflicting their own vomit inducing 'art' upon me.
I decided to go on a Phil escapade and bought some second hand CD's (sod streaming) of his solo stuff and post PG Genesis. And it bloody enjoyed it, mostly.
Post 'Duke', Genesis i can do without, likewise post 'No Jacket Required' Phil i don't need.
The bloke isn't a c unt, he's just a talented musician that Paul Morley and Noel gallgher ( proper c unts in my book) hate. That should be enough of a recommendation shirley.
He is a c unt for turning his back on Rangers obvs. innit.
There's no real pointy to this post. As there isn't to life. it just is.
More sherry waiter please.

He wouldn't have been such a commercial success unless lots of people liked and bought his records.
There's no shame in saying you liked his music. It was very good and drags a lot of us back to those carefree days of our youth. We all have Spotify playlists incorporating "guilty pleasures" from that era.

A mate of mine had an extremely expensive sound system in his car, with the CD box in the boot, wires running through the car to the dashboard.
He gets in to it one morning and after dropping the noisy kids off at school, he thought he'd listen to some music. Only then did he notice thueves had taken the wholevsystem: wires, console, and the CD box, the lot.
So professional was the job, that not only did they not smash or slash anything inside the car or boot, but in perusing which CDs they wanted to take, they decided to take the lot, save Phil Collins' 'No Jacket Required'. Seemingly, they left it slap bang in the middle of the boot!
Im not condoning theft of this nature, or thievery in general, but you've got to give them some respect for taste.

Old Phil stated he would leave the country if Labour got in in 97 as he didn't want to pay a bit more tax. Quite happy to sing about homeless people but not willing to pay taxes that might help.
Still a c u n t in my book.
Oh and he did bugger off to Switzerland and pay less taxes at the time.

How much do some people need? One celebrity on that 2nd list had a personal fortune of £500 million and still became a tax exile. Without meaning to start another 20 page thread, how much of that £500 million could they ever spend, even if their future income is subject to uk tax?

Love Phil Collins, Kate Bush and even Wired For Sound Cliff Richard. Totally uncool, until the younger generation find them and they become Cool again. Kate Bush is a great example, Running Up Thst Hill was on Stranger Things and my daughter thinks I'm amazing as I listened to her before it was on Netflix. Madonnas Material Girl is another one.
I'm waiting for Live it Up by Mental As Anything to appear on Stranger Things 5!
And I couldn't careless how much money they made, or how much tax they didnt pay. Let's face it, most people would do the same.

Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your a**hole. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.
And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

Uncannily, a similar thing happened to my wife when her car was broken into whilst we were watching David Bowie in Milton Keynes. The thieves took her bags etc and went through her cassettes (ok it was quite a long time ago!!) and took them all apart from a Wet Wet Wet one.

He claims he has not voted Tory at the time when he admits he did say he would leave the UK if tax increased. He claims his reason for going to Switzerland was due to the woman he loved at the time being there.
This all seems reasonable on the face of it until we remember he claimed to support QPR and then was also seen supporting Spurs on TV simultaneously.
One could allege, that all these statements are excuses. If it is alleged so, then doing a tax runner is not new for rich people, but pretending you are for the poor and then running away from paying your less-than-fair share, is where one could in turn allege that he is, after all, a proper Kuntz for that double hypocrisy alone!
