For any Bond since Moore just pick the first one with the new actor and bin the rest. Living Daylights, Goldeneye, Casino Royale.

Fleming supposedly based a lot of this on his friend Fitzroy Mclean (if you get a chance to read Eastern Approaches its a great book, Diplomat, Spy, early founder of the SAS, MP and basically Scottish gentleman Adventurer) . For me, Connery gets closest to that and simply owned the role. Think Craig has taken it in a different and darker route, but closer to Fleming's spirit, albeit updated to the modern world.

Moore's films for me tended to be weaker, perhaps because of the greater emphasis on humour and spectacle, it felt a bit too smug and clever. Dalton and Brosnan were OK, without arguably quite feeling comfortable in the role. Lazenby maybe lacked charisma comparatively - but Connery was a hell of a tough act to follow. Maybe with another film or two we might have seen a bit more from him.

Never knowingly understood

Lazenby would have been 'the' bond but greed etc got the better of him.
Dont think much of craig, loved the hammy Moore and thought connery was ok. Brosnan was good in film 1, but after that the films went to pot.

Eastern Approaches is great. Happened across a 2nd hand copy the week after McLean died and I'd read his obit (which had a lot of stuff he couldn't put into the book e.g. the reason he was hanging around in Alex when the SAS was set up was that he'd been sent to blow up the Soviet oil wells but wasn't needed due to the Russians winning Stalingrad.)

My favourite story is that he only became an MP so he could get out of the Foreign Office and join the army - and when he told the selection committee they said "good." The Yugoslav stuff is amazing too and surprisingly funny in parts.

Paddy Leigh Fermor is another of that type - the sort of bloke who wrote about art and culture but who also once kidnapped a Wehrmacht general in Crete and had a love affair with a Romanian princess.

They don't make 'em like that anymore.

Thing is with Roger Moore, he couldn't have had a fight against anybody. Good film though Live and Let.

Jaws the best baddie ever.

That one where he cornered the bloke in the jail cell at the beginning of the movie or something and killed him...i was young when i saw it, bloody horrible. Still the scariest bit in a Bond movie.

Connery i think won a Mr Universe and did a little boxing at least, whereas my Mum could have fought Roger Moore in his pastel blue suit.

Connery very closely followed by Craig. Moore was ok. Lazenby was wooden but OHMSS is a great film nevertheless.

From Russia or Casino Royale favourite films.

Moore as I was in my teens and just getting into them but his films got sillier and sillier as he got older and fatter!
I actually liked Dalton and think he got a bad press
Can’t stand the Daniel Craig films, they take themselves far too seriously.
As an aside, I’ve been to Telly Savalas mountain hideout in Switzerland, only accessible by cable car, has a revolving restaurant at the top, well worth a visit.

Grew up with Moore being Bond so love his films but for me Connerys Dr No is the best Bond film and he was the best Bond.
Goldeneye best Nintendo 64 game.
Casino Royal the best Movie after Dr No.

Occasional providers of half decent House music.
