Yes. He has to actually play any part of a meaningful match.
Agreed, this is why it's good for us. He doesn't end flying around the world just to sit on the subs bench and then do it all over again. Also, if he starts scoring it builds his confidence. Good all-around for us.

Great for him but sadly the ROI new Manager passed up the chance to call up Manning for the upcoming friendly .Its a surprising omission seeing as he managed him at U23 and clearly knows about his ability. God knows Ireland need attacking threats and I thought Kenny would clean house but it looks like business as usual. Maybe it because of a pending move ?

Ye need to get over the name guys. Firstly it's grossly offensive to women - there is no point in supporting an anti-racist campaign against black people if you are then going to use homophobic slurs. The argument that it's 'just a bit of banter' doesn't wash in 2020. Secondly, Dykes is quite a common celtic surname. There are several people whose surname is Dykes in Ireland, including a very talented CB for Sligo Rovers for over a decade in the 90's

Me too. Disappointed he didn't make the squad. Actually thought Masterson might get the nod too as we are not blessed with mobile defenders

I'm not sure Masterson has done enough, at least not yet.
As for Manning - I can see why he wasn't picked. His defending hasn't improved and he hasn't played further forward in a long time now. For this squad we have proven performers in both positions. I hope we move on from them soon, but when we do Manning will have to have done more to take advantage.

I actually like Enda Stevens, think he has done a decent job at Sheffield Utd and we are not blessed with prem players. I like McClean too, love his honesty (both on and off the pitch) and his willingness to give his all even in the 95th minute. I just think that it would be a good time to include someone as versatile as Manning in the squad. With no friendlies anymore, these 'competitive' games are the best opportunity to blood new talent. While I agree that Masterson has some work to do to dislodge the regular CB's, Kenny knows him inside out and I thought he would be worth a shout in the squad
