Gave up listening after it was 2-1. I hate just listening to the commentary. Every time the opposition get the ball I'm imagining the worst. Don't know why I put myself through it.

Not a single steward tried to intervene! Is their stewarding run by the same prat that does the away allocation!! Brilliant come back and what camaraderie! Dieng diving in the celebrations after running the length of the pitch!! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Spot on. I'm a "football is all about ninety-minutes" type of guy. Not much worried about league position, especially before Christmas, and this team is great from that perspective. Every match is a thriller, every player wants it – irrespective of age or skill level, they're just flat out fun to watch. Certainly the best since 'Warnock's Wonders,' (maybe we need 'W' led managers, for W12!)
| Don't ever write us off!!!! on 20:22 - Sep 11 with 2776 views | francisbowles | It's the squad. Good substitutions, all three played a part in a goal. George Thomas powering out of our half up the right before passing to Albert in the build up to the equaliser. We did it without Lyndon as well and Willock was so close to getting a winner. True. If we can tighten across the back, we could do some damage this season. Football is bugger all without tension, much as it aches at the time. This is so good. Still buzzing - what a day. And as someone said on the way out; better to get back to 3-3 than give a 3-1 away. | |

Anyone think that we might be missing the defensive work of Sam field this season ? Dom ball is playing well but he hasn’t got the defensive qualities of field I’m sorry to say

4 times in 6 games I think, could easily have been 5 with Coventry. Great battling qualities but I do wonder how long we can keep getting away with it.

I think there's an element of that but it's a bit more complicated than that. I think we missed Lyndon yesterday as an outlet and that's why it made a difference when Andre Gray came on. I know Charlie hasn't ever been fast but he was practically a statue yesterday. Willock was double marked almost all match. Not having an outlet means you give the ball away a lot which in turn puts pressure on your defence as they have to keep winning it back. Odubajo was calling for the ball quite a lot but then when he got it, didn't seem to know what to do with it and kept cutting in, allowing the defence to get back. We had 13 blocked shots yesterday, which usually happens when you've not moved the ball quickly enough and their defence has had enough time to get into position to stop the shots. Uncs in contrast just got the ball and then put in a first time cross, and their defence really didn't like it. If you look at the third goal, what created it was Thomas actually driving with the ball as soon as he got it, creating space, then Gray dividing the defence and leaving more spaces for others to go into. Honestly we looked like we would have scored the fourth if only we could've kept the ball moving. Reading were desperate and causing fouls/diving/kicking the ball out/feigning injury etc, anything to stop us playing with the damn thing. Willock actually looked up at the crowd apologetically when he nearly curled the fourth in but just missed. I think we'd still be there celebrating if that had gone in.

Gray coming on, and the threat of pace, opened it up for us as well - a combination of his presence and their third goal meant they dropped back imo - they had compressed the play quite well previously. Maybe!

Something isn't working for Chaz at the moment but he's the sort of player that will dig in and fix it rather than do a Hemed. I would be quite interested to see how he would work with Gray as a starting pair. Might not come to anything but the two of them seem to have complimentary styles.
