Barry cryer RIP on 11:05 - Jan 27 with 3003 views | CiderwithRsie | Very sad to read that, sort of felt like he was immortal. I loved him on I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue, which has now lost him, Humphrey Littleton, Tim Brooke-Taylor and Jeremy Hardy over the last few years. They all felt like old friends, there's something very intimate about radio, it feels like the person is in the house with you, rather than a performer on a screen.

Have to agree with all of this. He was a brilliant comedy performer but an even better comedy writer. I am sure there will be lists of stuff he wrote in the next few days. Gutted.

Barry cryer RIP on 16:00 - Jan 27 with 2554 views | PeterHucker | When I lived round the corner, I used to go along to BBC TV Centre to be in studio audience for various comedy stuff. Went to many episodes of The Stand Up Show which was a sort of forerunner to Live at the Apollo. Saw Bill Bailey, Dave Gorman, Al Murray Pub Landlord, various others. Barry Cryer was the host and most of the time he’d also be there as the warm up man getting the studio audience laughing before the filming started. A very funny bloke, he was quite often the best one on the show!
Barry cryer RIP on 17:41 - Jan 27 with 2478 views | PinnerR | Yes, lived in Hatch End and was a regular in The Moon and Sixpence Wetherspoons. Always ready for a chat and joke. If he wasn't working he'd often get in there for about 1pm and leave about 4.30 to weave his way across the railway bridge back home to The Avenue. RIP buddy

Barry cryer RIP on 19:11 - Jan 27 with 2326 views | ShotKneesHoop | One of the genuinely funniest blokes ever. His latest podcast “well, where were we?” suddenly stopped this week after four hilarious weekly sessions with Stephen Frty, Danny Baker and Miriam Margolees- now we know why. No matter what they said, he still had the funniest stories.”A driver runs over a cockerel, so he knocks on the farmhouse door to make amends. The farmer’s wife answers the door. He says “ I’ve just run over your cockerel and killed it, so I’d like to replace it”. She says “ Well, there’s 50 hens round the back, so do the best you can” [Post edited 27 Jan 2022 19:23]

Barry cryer RIP on 15:07 - Jan 28 with 1899 views | welwynranger | A man had a parrot that used to swear at him and everybody else. To teach him a lesson he put the parrot in the fridge for 5 hours. He asked the parrot if he had learnt his lesson. The parrot said yes but what the hell did the chicken do. Barry Cryer RIP

Apparently he was recently asked how he was feeling rand he said, “Well I’m not buying green bananas anymore, put it that way”. RIP.
