Chair's the short one, Hunter.

| Saturday on 17:13 - Aug 4 with 2811 views | daveB | The midfield needs a bit more dynamisim hopefully Richards can provide that, it looked very one paced last weekend. Boro are very good out wide with the wing backs so would play with Chair and Adomah out wide (assuming Willock is still out) for this one and try and keep the wing backs in their own half. I'd also stick with Dykes up front although I am running out of paitence with him | | | |

Willock has to start and he will if he is fit - 100%. The back will be as read.....the midfield and forwards are the big question. The midfield....Field(100%), Chair (100% but I want more), SJ (100% he will start but I am not convinced by him any more, he needs to get better), Willock (100%), then the ifs of buts, if 5 in midfield which I think he will play because of our lack of forwards it will be anyone from Roberts, Richards or Adomah. Forward will be Dykes or Bonne, the unknown - both are pretty limited.....perhaps Roberts as Hunter suggests (if fit I would start him despite never really seeing him play). Maybe 2 if the Manager plays it that way. So pretty the same thoughts from me as Hunter. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
| Saturday on 09:34 - Aug 5 with 2393 views | dmm | I am as excited as anyone to see Willock and Amos return, and Richards and Roberts come in. But I'm also concerned that they could be brought into games too soon. Willock has been out since March. Amos has not had a proper preseason or played 90 mins. Richards hasn't had a proper preseason. As we know only too well, unless they're carefully managed back in, they'll only sustain further injuries. I just hope Beale goes slowly with them. We're obviously not going to see Roberts just yet. How about we give Roberts a game or two before completely writing him off! Worth bearing in mind that your Leeds mate is looking at Roberts with Premiership goggles on. We only need Roberts to be good enough for the Championship and he was a regular starter for Leeds when they were promoted. | | | |

I hear what you are saying and in all honesty I will give any player who pulls on the hooped shirt every chance but my mate did say he was crap in the Championship too. Only half of his Leeds appearances were in the Prem. I would love him to prove the doubters wrong and I would also love Dykes, Bonne to prove them wrong too. Maybe Beale can work some magic?

Fair point about giving him a couple of games or so, but if you look at his record you will see that a) he is often injured and b) he doesn't really score often. So, yes we need to sign a proper CF unless the club really believes that Dykes, Bonne and Armstrong will score the goals the club will need to just finish in the top half. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyler_Roberts#2018%E2%80%9319_season As for Saturday's game, I think starting with Willock, in place of Chair, will be the right thing to do because if he is not fit to play he shouldn't be on the bench imo. Start with him and see how he fares. He can help whoever is the CF, whether that is Dykes or Bonne and be replaced at half time or after an hour, if not fit enough to last the majority of the game. I would prefer to start with 2 forwards, Bonne & Armstrong with Willock behind them, but I am not picking the team. Amos or Richards whichever of them is fitter should start in place of Dozzell.

Probably depends if he’s been brought in to mainly score goals or if Beale sees him as an attacker with pace who is going to create space and opportunities for the likes of Dykes, Bonne, Armstrong, Willock, Chair etc to benefit and score goals. Either way, I’d be very surprised if we don’t sign another striker. We always do!

We agree on most mate, we cant agree on everything!!! Tough call tomorrow Hunter, I'm in Cyprus so watching it on screen like last Saturday (Norf will be pleased), but a win in not beyond reach. Good odds if you fancy it - 2/1.

He hasn't had a pre-season, it would be madness for him to start. The time for him to play will be when the opposition have an hour's worth of fatigue in their legs.

| Saturday on 13:30 - Aug 5 with 2056 views | aston_hoop | If he's cleared by the medical team to play for an hour or so then why not. I'd go: Dieng Kakay Dickie JCS Paal Johansen Field Amos Chair Willock/Richards Dykes rotate Richards and Willock as the second 10 depending on how many minutes they can play, get Amos in for Dozzell to give us some actual press in midfield. Keep Dykes if Willock is going to play, Willock is the only one who seems capable of picking out Dykes so we should make the most of that. In Richards, Roberts, Bonne, Adomah, Armstrong we do have bench players who can make a difference too. | |

But he has had pre-season training. He’s been training since all but the first week of pre-season out on the grass. I’m not sure run outs against Crawley or Wealdstone would help him much apart from a fitness angle, which Beale is saying is not an issue because he is fit. His match sharpness might be off, granted, but that’ll continue to be the case until he plays. I don’t think it’ll improve much for playing U23s for a few games. And even if he isn’t at his best, he will draw the attention of at least one, if not two oppo players, freeing up space for Chair.

Start Willock and give him 60 minutes or whatever the backroom guys think or when Willock himself knows that he has had enough or how the game is going - access him at half time.....playing will give him the fitness he needs. [Post edited 5 Aug 2022 13:50]
