I was at a Bees game earlier this season and the start to the second half was delayed while the ref sorted out his earpiece (had to get a new one?).

When I saw the results and that Swansea had scored a 98th minute i thought ‘wow!’ but now seeing when the game finished it was really the 81st minute. Still good but not really ‘wow!’

Tend to agree. I'm assuming, but don't know, that even with radio mics, they still have buzzer flags, so they could easily make do with that in my opinion.
As you say, any major incident, they would have to do what the rest of us have to and that's have a real life chat - happens quite rarely though. | | | |

Well it is radio technology, so may have been to do with the signal, the mics, earpiece, talkback on/off - who knows - but its a bit more than just an earpiece.
