I couldn't fault our effort. I think Luton picked a team to beat QPR today. We didn't have the luxury to do the same to them.

Off day for us. Cup Final for their poxy little team. They played well; we didn't, sadly...

Nothing more than that I think.

Plus OF COURSE we'd miss Laird and Willock, both Prem class...

Can we go out yet?

First of all,I think Beale is a great manager and we are so lucky to have him but he cannot disguise the fact that until we have a goal scoring replacement for Dykes we will not get out of this division.
We are a good side but we cannot rely on Willok to score enough.Beale is obviously appreciative of Dykes efforts as we all are but that is not enough. We are as good as any team in this division except for one position.IMO

Nathan Jones was better than Mick Beale today. It's no big deal. We won't win them all.

Definitely an off day for us today. Early injury to Balogun didn't help, I think it disrupted us and we never got hold of their forwards, gave them too much respect. We were bullied throughout and we need to toughen up for games like this.
We will be back at the races in the week. The response is going to be crucial for their character this week.

"until we have a goal scoring replacement for Dykes we will not get out of this division."

We won this division 12 seasons ago with our main centre forward scoring 13 goals.
We just need Chris Willock to be our Adel

Nail on head. We need more than effort from our main striker.

We're currently the leagues 5th highest scorers for what its worth and one of our forward players has 6 goals in 9 games. Not sure what the issue is.

The ‘cup final’ slander is often misused, but today was the first time I really felt like it was a ‘cup final’ for one of the teams.

Luton deserved to win, they had a game plan and executed it. We had no response.

I don’t think we bottled it, but we do need to work out how to adapt to their game. We looked very frustrated and out of ideas.

For now, I’m saying it’s an off day.

We didn't lose today because of Dykes. We didn't create enough and we allowed the ref to give too many silly fouls in and around our area, which put big pressure on our defence. We didn't provide enough of an outlet from defence to midfield, which put big pressure on our defence. We had no one breaking through the lines to create a threat that took them out of their comfort zones.

We didn't win enough duels in midfield: Field only three; Amos none out of seven; Iroegbunan a bit better , ten out of 19. Only three successful dribble attempts between Roberts, Chair, Iroegbunan and Amos. They were good at intercepting the ball, so it was difficult to get up the field. I'd like to see our midfield show for the ball a bit more.

Having said all that, it's one game and we're not going to play well every match. Nine out of twelve points pretty good, three out of four away matches. And Luton really, really wanted to beat us!

I am not critical of Dykes efforts and I wish every time he runs on the pitch that he will become the striker we all want him to be,but if we struggle to score in the period that Willock is missing, the problem will be obvious to all.As I said at the end of my post,IMO.

Injury prone? Sorry mate, no disrespect but that's tripe. He played 38 games in his first season here and had only missed two games, both not through injury, until he did his hamstring at Nottingham.

Not this numpty !!

Love Lyndon

He is a decent up and coming front man. His effort is always there and the quality is there, just not consistently.

As he is our only current out and out big lump up front, it's amazingly harsh how criticised he is.

People will say Charlie and Andre Gray last season were better. Really !!!

The key thing is that the guy who picks the team and has twenty years coaching at a high level values his contribution and defends him.

And actually the people at the ground who see him week in and week out are also supporting him because they can see that he adds a lot of value to the team. Today wasn't his best game but it wasn't anyone's really. Just annoying that as you say every time some numpty (not you) just blames him.

Don't be so polarised. On occasion over the last three seasons, Dykes has been bloody awful and anyone defending him could be termed a "numpty".

Since he was taken out of the team, there has been a big improvement, which carried on yesterday, but then there was that free header 4 yards out that he tamely nodded back to Horvath and that pathetic lightweight collapse in their penalty area because some one stood within 5 yards of him.

However, he was one of our BETTER performers yesterday.

As to the coach defending him, what do you expect? Earlier this season, Beale said, effectively, "this is all we have, so we'd better get behind them" ; not really a glowing accolade, eh? It is, however, true, which is why I will continue to support Lyndon 'til someone pays us a few million to take him from us...

We all WANT him to be better(himself included I suspect)

We can be good enough, but fair play to Luton they got their tactics right. Would have preferred Johansen to have started in the middle and had Kakay starting on the right, rather than Balagun who we have now lost to injury. It is all about next 2 home games, let's be honest been on a great run since the Millwall win.

I think we're easy good enough technically to get in the top 6. Easy. We've played some excellent football and had some great results. We were joint top of the league coming into this game which I know it's early days but it is a good indication of our level of performances so far. So technically yes, we are good enough.
I think what is questionable is the physical and mental strength to sustain a full season with the level required.
We saw last seasons nose dive and we did seem to bottle it. No question. You could argue about the factors involved ,squad depth, injuries etc but really we just didn't have enough in the tank throughout the squad to do the job.
On our day, we beat anyone. But do we have it in our locker to keep up a high level consistently is still questionable.
I guess we will see in the next couple of games, how we react to that poor performance v Luton.
BTW there's no way on God's green earth Luton will keep up that level of performance all season. They played like it was their cup final, and fairplay to them. If they play like that the rest of the season they are getting promoted.
Time will tell won't it.

One of those days. Was a cup final for Luton and their funny little manager in whose head we reside rent free. We were probably also about due a defeat.

Add Laird and Willock being out and losing Balogun so early against a physical team and it was always going to be difficult.

We'll be fine.
