That was tighter than perhaps it should have been, but a clear indication of the import of getting off to a great start in the Powerplay. Both teams looked to be cruising after 6 overs, but then struggled.

Great format, tactically complex despite the short nature of the game and England challenging with the best - good fun; shame it loses impact by being on Sky. Needs a terrestrial focus to promote cricket, which appears to be struggling with participation...

Can we go out yet?

It was never gonna be easy because of the quality spin bowlers Sri Lanka have, especially on a wicket that’s been used 3 yes THREE times in the tournament.

Did anyone see Alex hales get interviewed at the end? It was very frosty, Morgs didn’t say a word and Hales just looked in Ian Wards direction.

That was nervy. Got out to some silly shots. Tremendous atmosphere Sri Lankan fans were fantastic.

Almost certainly India!

Best T20 tournament I can remember for matches which swing to and fro a bit (which is what I love about Test cricket.) The Aussie-Afghan match was gripping.

Annoying for me how many matches I've missed due to scheduling - missed today due to work - but I suppose it can't be helped when it's in Australia.

Meant to up vote not down vote. But what you say is spot on. Cricket is struggling for participation, and it does need more stuff on terrestrial TV. The hundred is, but it's not enough. And the structure of the domestic game needs reforming, although t20 has been a great addition, the schedule is a complete mess, and even keen cricket fans can't keep up with it

Completely agree. Don't get me wrong I love hhe Hundred (Manchester Originals for me - local team) but we really need more options on terrestrial TV. Remember when they had the India / England test series on Channel 4 during lockdown 2021? That was outstanding and they coverage (after the first test which was clearly a rush job) was brilliant. There is a market and there must be some way for broadcasters to make enough money out of it. Face it, the ECB is going to lose control of the Hundred franchises when the deal runs out in 3 yrs and then it will be foreign owners on pay to air platforms. I reckon they have that long to get something back on terrestrial or the product is fùcked - and not in a good way.

Wow an absolute demolition of India there what a great batting performance by Hales/Buttler
I'm kind of hoping that Pakistan are not going to do a 1992 and win it after seemingly looking down and out
Be a nice way to end the weekend .... a 4-0 hammering of Coventry and a World Cup for England....

Brutal demolition and superbly led by Buttler. Excellent all round performance.🏏

Seeing the scores reminds me of a game I played 30 years ago.

Opposition batted first and were 168-2 at the end of their 46 overs.
I opened and my partner got to about 80 when I reached my 50. We only needed about 25 to win, with plenty of time. Every time I got on strike I blocked everything to give him a chance to gey his hundred. He kept feeding me the strike but we and he got there with a few overs to spare.

With reference to some of the earlier posts expressing a wish that it was available for more people to see, the good news seems to be that Sky have agreed to let the final be shown on Channel 4.
Only downside is the weather forecast for Melbourne on Sunday looks very bad.

And the reserve day on Monday looking equally as bad. What happens if its a wash-out?

A superb spell by Rashid, four overs for only 20, with a wicket too

Supposing England win the final to become the best team in the world. Given Ireland beat them a couple of weeks ago, would that make Ireland the best team in the galaxy?

I'm actually happy we're out. Our team has become a bunch of overrated entitled tossers. Time for a clean out starting with Finch

No. It makes Ireland receivers of the famed English benevolence.

Undisputed kings of the 14.3-over game. Same glory you get from being the 300m world record holder, select but enduring.
