Why? It's Tesco it not like they can't afford to replace the phones plus they have their own security [Post edited 10 Jan 2023 19:16]

Is there no backbone anywhere anymore? on 19:23 - Jan 10 with 4473 views | slmrstid | Bit dumb that sort of theft because those display phones don't work and are deactivated very easily. And to be quite frank, do you genuinely reckon those lads didnt have a blade concealed somewhere if things got tasty for them? Who would really be willing to put themselves into potential harm's way for that? I don't think any normal person could be criticised for that.
Is there no backbone anywhere anymore? on 19:26 - Jan 10 with 4449 views | aston_hoop | Certainly not engaging, if those guys are armed and I get hurt, is it worth that for my family just to protect some mobile phones? I'll let the police deal with it.

Is there no backbone anywhere anymore? on 19:33 - Jan 10 with 4411 views | BazzaInTheLoft | I saw a woman outside Luton station getting absolutely leathered by who I presume was her boyfriend / husband this week and three separate people including a school girl jumped in and separated it. One of the have a go heroes even then had to be restrained from bashing the assaulter up. I think people are just more wary nowadays and know the difference between the value of a phone and the value of a life. When I was kid and worked in a Sainsbury's petrol station, I always turned a blind eye to the heroin addicts thieving, especially when it was nappies and deodorant. [Post edited 10 Jan 2023 19:34]

At least you made a stand fair play . A few weeks ago in a Home Depot hardware store in North Carolina a scumbag walked out with a cart full of expensive tools. An 82 year old cashier tried to talk to him and the cu*t pushed him down to the ground kept walking and got away scot free. The poor old man struck his head hard struggled to his feet but collasped and died later that night If he lived he would probably be fired because that is their policy dont interfere let the police catch the perps . Home Depot lost $81 MILLION last year due to retail theft

We had a security guard at our truck depot who used to work security for the supermarkets. He was covered in scars and broken bones from trying to stop people stealing things from their stores. It isn’t a job that I would fancy doing any time soon. And if they catch the thieves they only get a slap on the wrist.

Is there no backbone anywhere anymore? on 17:08 - Jan 11 with 2925 views | numptydumpty | Actually witnessed two blokes squaring up to each, initially by hurling verbals to each other, before they started shaping up to each other. Was carrying on for around five minutes when a woman who happened be a neighbour of mine, got between them trying to make them both go their separate ways, which after a bit of "my dad's bigger than your dad" they did both slope off. I did see the woman , not long after and said really well done what you did. She is very tall woman around 6 foot 2, I think, but I knew she has struggles with her anxieties but she reasoned away that they would not hit a woman, ie it was in middle of town. Most people were just letting these two men look stupid amongst themselves, as they were either both very drunk, or under influence of some dodgy drugs of some kind. [Post edited 11 Jan 2023 17:10]

Is there no backbone anywhere anymore? on 18:32 - Jan 11 with 2836 views | nix | I did stop two blokes having a fight once in Kingston. Neither wanted to back down. One was a dad-type and the other looked a bit hard. Turned out he'd just got out of prison. I convinced him it wasn't a good idea to end up straight back in prison! I think it helped being a woman as he didn't have to save face with me so much. Not sure how I'd have felt if it had been two really aggressive blokes though.

I still think people (like Nix and others for example) are fundamentally good, but this generation’s relationship with the corporate world and it’s understanding of why people do petty crime has changed, in my opinion. If these lads were Harry Roberts or Buster Edwards some would be celebrating with chants and films. [Post edited 12 Jan 2023 10:02]
