There was, suddenly, a degree of composure and calmness about Rangers not seen for several months now — even the win against Watford was like flying around a wooden roller coaster by the skin of your testicles.” I think it’s been fairly obvious the team been under clear instruction by Ainsworth to go long and over the top at the first opportunity, and also clearing defensive lines without finding a pass - he’s said as much in his interviews, and of course has history for this style. But here’s a shock, it doesn’t suit the players. And I know you don’t like the players, and want to blame them at every opportunity (can hardly blame you given the crap this season) but the long punts, and lack of composure and possession is actively encouraged by Ainsworth. Not surprise then, that a quite clear and obvious shift back to an on the floor passing style, against West Brom, suited the players and we were far better for it. And reading between the lines, that was driven by the players themselves in the “clear the air meeting”.

Thanks, Clive, I was sitting on my hands, tempted to respond, but deciding against it, as I thought we'd already had this discussion on Monday and Tuesday. As I said elsewhere, some people seem hellbent on sticking to their personal agenda despite the evidence pointing in the completely opposite direction.

I get it completely. I’m just calling it how I see it, and whilst I agree the players have been shocking for far too long, some of the stuff they have been doing since Ainsworth walked in, is on Ainsworth, and not them.

Sorry, this is an open forum E15. I’ll share my views as I see fit thanks. One could argue you equally have your own specific “agenda”, since it’s all a matter of perspective. I’m far from alone in my thinking, as evidenced by this very messageboard. And let’s leave the accusatory words aside shall we? 1 draw does not change my views on what I’ve seen so far. Finish the season strongly, with good tactical awareness mixed in, and them I’ll revisit it. Until then, it’s all up for debate.

Did you not watch the pre-match interview, JD, or is my understanding of the English language fundamentally different from yours?? If you'd been in a room with Ainsworth and thrown all of this stuff at him directly, I don't think you'd have got a more direct response to everything then you got in that video, plus the one relating to Jimmy Dunne at right-back that we talked about yesterday. For the last time (hopefully) Gareth Ainsworth is not trying to stop his team playing football!!

As for me having an agenda myself, all I'm doing is trying to stick up for someone who appears to be fundamntally misunderstood by the very people who should be giving him their backing and the benefit of the doubt. And this isn't about "worship" or some such similar unthinking response. Its just about listening to what the poor bloke actually says!

As much as you suggest I’m interpreting how I wish, from where I’m sitting, you are interpreting it in your own way. That’s the beauty of the English language and life in general, we can read the same stuff, but yet it mean and see different things. At the end of the day, the clear the air meeting was telling for me; as was the quote about the feedback from the players so he “changed the way we play a little bit”. More then a little bit I’d suggest, based on the rather large differential between the first 6 games where it was all long ball, and the West Brom game were it was evidently back on the floor. ..And that change couldn't have been something that he'd been trying to encourage, or give them the platform to do it, by launching the ball initially higher up the pitch, ask Dykes and Martin to hold it and get runners alongside and beyond where it might actually hurt teams, of course.. You know what, JD, I surrender. You're right, I'm wrong. It's been a long week and I need to rest..

Thought it was a good report, whilst not agreeing with parts of it, can understand the sentiment and all fair. The one general point around "not having any time for these players", "given up on these players". They feel such general and populist statements. As much as it may come across as a bit of a witch hut but what players do you hate? Is it the whole Team, as you regularly state or certain individuals? Personally, I have a lot of time for Sam Field, player of the season for me, Dykes, I think is a decent workhorse and like him, although appreciate his limitations. Chair has been a great servant for us - think you've made some comments before about liking him and the godfather coat - and I do like the left back and Jimmy Dunne as well. Keeper has been crap to be honest but I still have a lot of time for Senny Dieng. Chris Martin is a trier but not, in my opinion, very good and Dickie is going through some sort of mid player crisis that he's really struggling to recover from but he's a good bloke Then there's Willock, probably the best of the lot in my opinion ability wise but having serious, and regular hamstring issues and clearly he's struggling to overcome but I do see a top player there though. That's over half a team I've mentioned, but from your previews and regular vents, is it fair to say you can't stand any of the players and you want rid of the whole side?

I hope these players do put in a decent performance or 3 in the remaining games which ensures that the club stays in the Championship. However, that mustn't alter the fact that many of the players shouldn't be at QPR next season for all the reasons that have been discussed across these forums over the last few months.

It's bad enough watching them on a stream. It's worse going to the home games. I can't fathom how bad it's been for someone like Clive following them around the country for the last few months. I think I'd want to behead Jude the Cat if I'd been at Fleetwood, Blackpool and Wigan.

Spot on. The players have been sulking ever since Beale went, but the football under Ainsworth has been really poor. I agree about the players driving the change back, but that does raise the question as to why they didnt play for Critchley who wanted a passing style? Anyway tomorrow, I fully expect this lot to flatter to deceive yet again.

Agreed there are some good people and players at the club, you can't tar everybody with the same brush, however if I had been trudging all over the country watching them then I would feel as angry as Clive, it's been tough going to the home games, the total capitulation at Blackpool after watching an inspired performance against Watford must have been the toughest. We just need to scrape enough points to survive and then we can have a total reset in the Summer, all the loans depart, we let the out of contract go. As mentioned in Clive's article we hope there's a release clause for Johansen and Adomah, it's sad with Adomah because he's such a lovely bloke but it's all about money and we need to cut back, I would also release all players over 21 who are not in the first team squad or Ainsworth can see a future for, there's too many and we can't afford them. I'm too old to be naive I don't get the club is rotten attitude, the owners Rubén and Amit are good men, they are funding the club every month to keep us alive, I know West Brom have a slim chance of the play offs for their financial survival but they are a prime example of a club with worse owners and there's plenty of others. We do need a reset on the football front and sadly Les will have to go in the Summer, he's the man carrying the can for the Football decisions, a fresh pair of eyes and thoughts to work with Ainsworth and build a new squad.

Tbf I think so far Ainsworth has been an improvement on Critchley. Critchley never had the players within his control. He was fed up, quite rightly, but was never able to manage them into any kind of winning mentality. I think Ainsworth inherited pretty awful situation and it's taken a few games to get players on board but am ever hopeful. Next two games are massive. Two wins and I think we are safe. Two losses and we are doomed. So let's get behind our team, I say !!! C'mon you Supa Hoopsa !! [Post edited 15 Apr 2023 9:20]

Today is massive but then so were the previous ten games but we have slept walked into a nightmare that I really dont think will have a happy ending. However the fans have been class this season and all we can do is get right behind the team today and try to get us those 3 very important points.
