| Youngsters sign pro contracts on 12:38 - Apr 27 with 3295 views | nix | I thought they both looked decent prospects, particularly Henry, who stood out as very calm on the ball for a CD. I think he's been out on loan too. | | | |
| Youngsters sign pro contracts on 13:20 - Apr 27 with 3200 views | PlanetHonneywood | I see they're letting Harry Halwax go. Always hoped we'd see a bloke don the B&W with a name that evoked the spirit of the RAF during WW2: At the setting of the sun, we shall remember him. Looking at those offered contracts from the B team, they've been here a while, and I've read positive stuff on here about Pedder and Kargbo. If some of these lads haven't been deemed worthy of game time in the First XI by Christmas, then what is the point. | |

Good luck with his initiative.

They're clearly on GA's radar, given that the offfish is always keen to "accidentally" show that he's in attendance at the B games.

To be fair, Henry Hawkins and Harry Murphy have the WW2 vibe nailed on, that or the wild west anyway! As for the players leaving, no shocks, I think a few will get picked up but also don't think we'll regret any of them. I also think its about time there were fewer B team players around so the better U18s get more games at that level rather than sitting behind a bunch of 21 year olds who will likely never make it. On that note too, I wonder if a few of the ones who have been offered deals (Ajose, Pedder, Kargbo) might be tempted to look elsewhere and see if a L1 or L2 side will offer them a first team pathway that they might not have at QPR

I think we'll see them integrated into the pre-season 1st team squad in any case. With less cash to spend and the pressure on the Acadamy to start delivering in higher numbers, I think they'll be almost guaranteed a look-in. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I'd agree with you there. The ones offered new deals seemed to be the ones developing and getting closer to first team squad.

That always seems to happen in pre season but problem seems to be we lose a couple of league games and the manager at the time will want to get a loan in.

True. You can't really blame them if they think they're just a few hgames away from getting the boot, can you? I do think GA will be different in that respect, though, as he will be bigger picture-orientated. Plus there just won't be the same money available to get them next season, you would imagine.

It is a very QPR retained list, keeping players who really aren't going to make the grade. We're keeping players like Ajose who haven't played a single minute of professional adult football at the ages of 21. Rafferty Pedder is another - looks great in U21 games but hasn't gone out on loan. This just serves to block pathways for younger players in the U18s to step up and develop. Ainsworth noted it the other day, that our baby Drewe who we all consider very green is actually older than Laird, with only a handful of appearances in the National League South to his name. At 22, is Drewe going to continue his development to turn into a regular first team player? Unlikely. But we continue to clog up our youth systems out of what, pity? Reluctance to release kids who have been here for a while?

Good observation. Yeh i was supprised about the Laird and Drew ages tbh.

Owens, Shodipo & Archer will definitely go. Masterson is strange. They've let him run down a contract where Gillingham keen on a deal. Without Balogun is it CM or Gubbins? I think Travelman has another year. At least 1 of the keepers will be retained.
