Kone goal 11:15 - Dec 21 with 1412 viewsSydneyRs

Just watch his anticipation, movement and finish. Proper striker's goal. Quality.

So pleased he scored as he definitely deserved to, after a barren run.

A true number nine's finish.

He needed that. Proper "ave it" finish.

Perhaps some of the stupid comments on here about him will go away

I loved the way he outmuscled the two Leicester defenders, chested it, thighed it, leathered into the net. Great to see.

Cracking goal. So nice to have strikers who know where the net is.

He is never going to race on to the ball with pace and out strip defenders. However, he is bloody strong, has good movement and knows where the goal is. Play to his strengths and he will score goals. Sometimes I think it's forgotten how quickly he has moved up the leagues. He will still need to adapt to this level. He is still only 22 too.

Hopefully this gets him going again. His overall game has improved so much. Just needs a few more goals.

Never knowingly right.

I like to imagine him screaming ‘cowson’ as he leathers it straight through the keepers face and into the back of the net.

I'll be surprised if the goals don't flow again.

(Mostly) he's carried on doing the right sort of things even when he's not beens scoring, and Burell has certainly benefitted a few times.

Strikers can go through hot streaks and dry spells, it's a little early to call whether his run of 4 in 7 (6 starts) or the run of none in nine is the "real" Kone.

Shame he missed his kick in the second half on what would have been a contender for goal of the season if he'd connected!

He received the ball where he does best; centrally in the opposition's penalty area. That's where he should play. Burrell can buzz around the place, still score goals and provide assists as he did twice yesterday. Kone, however, needs to be the lead striker.

Also for our 1st goal watch how he puts his head in and wins the 50-50 to start the attack middle of the park, if he doesn't win that Saito doesn't score.

It’s little things like that that stack the deck in your favour. In a league as competitive as the Champ, those small details add up and can decide games.

Don't think we should forget that we've scored 12 goals in those 4 consecutive home wins, and his physicality and aggression up front has played its part in that.

we're learning how to impose ourselves on the opposition at home, and we need to start doing the same away. I'd prefer we didn't change what works best for us . An extra body in centre mid is simply defensive and leaves Burrell isolated or takes some of our wide pace away. Either option makes us less likely to win away, and I'd rather we won 2 out of 6 away than tried to draw all six..

Yes, what's striking is his raw power with two Leicester players next to him. Special mention to the Leicester no. 4 (Ben Nelson) for the assist to Kone over the top of the Leicester defence.

Yup. He reminds me of the CFs of the late 50s and early 60s. Big bastards who weren't particularly quick but treated defenders as minor nuisances.

Just before Madsen takes free kick, Kone spins out towards SA Road touchline. Puts him up against Skipp and Ayew defending rather than centre backs after Dunne heads back and Nelson shanks ball. Kone is king of the bobble. Good to see set piece move come off.
