The general demise of driving standards, but this infuriates me…approaching a roundabout on a dual carriageway, unless signs suggest otherwise the left lane is for turning left or driving straight on, right hand lane for turning right or turning around said roundabout NOT a fast lane for driving straight on. The amount of times the right hand lane is full of muppets going straight on without realising if they followed the highway code and joined the left lane, traffic would flow faster and we’d all get to where we want to quicker.
Once, I was waiting at a crossroads controlled by traffic lights, in a town in central France. The road at that point was four lanes in each direction and the options at the lights were left, right of straight on. There were vehicles in each lane ahead of me, waiting for the green light.
The green light duly illuminated and...all four vehicles turned left .

People who don't indicate on roundabouts when they should or, even worse, people who indicate when they shouldn't.
People who pull away from a green light at a snail's pace as if there's no-one behind you who might also fancy getting through before the lights change.
Suffering since 1978.

People in petrol stations that have filled up in front of you. The ones, that on returning after a casual saunter around to see if the shop has any raisins in, decide to get back in their car and spend the next 5 minutes sorting their lives out before putting the seatbelt on and then drive away at 1mph.
I wonder what percentage of drivers shouldn’t actually be allowed to drive anywhere around our Islands?
Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

99.9999999999999%, then I can have the roads to myself. Bliss.

The new government cabinet who are trying to force net zero on everyone flew from London to Manchester yesterday, why couldn’t they have got the train?
When I read a story on the BBC, they invariably write this: 'the BBC has contacted X for comment.'
Wow, and so effing what? It's part of the job and until X actually comments, telling me you tried to do your job isn't part of the story. Indeed, for all I know, you've not tried hard enough!
When someone dies, and famous people rush to post something on twitter, the news agencies invariably do two things. One, write something like, 'Christopher Biggins led the tributes to the late X...'.
Who decides 'Biggins' should lead the tributes? Maybe the deceased hated the person or, would have preferred someone else. The second thing they do, litter the article with what celebs have posted. Lazy journalism at its finest.

My personal favourite is when people indicate AFTER turning.

Back in cab-driving days got hailed by two theatrical types outside the House of Commons. One of them said, “Will you wait here, driver? Biggins will be joining us shortly” (the unspoken assumption being that I would immediately know who ‘Biggins’ is and therefore be so impressed that I would be happy to risk incurring a PCN by waiting for more than two minutes on a Red Route).
Anyway, ‘Biggins’ eventually clambered into the back of the cab and we were on our way.
Thirty seconds later a mobile phone went off. It was Channel 5 offering ‘Biggins’ £75 to say a ‘few words’ about the actor Leslie Phillips, whose death had been announced earlier that day.
‘Biggins’ immediately accepted the offer but then went into a panic because he realised he barely knew the ex-Carry On star, having met him briefly on only one or two occasions.
I couldn’t help overhearing the frantic discussion coming from the back of the cab where the three of them were desperately trying to recall Leslie’s various catchphrases.
In the end, I decided to intervene, suggesting that the two most popular ones were probably ‘Ding Dong’ and ‘Well, hell-oooh’. ‘Biggins’ expressed his gratitude and went on to pay his ‘tribute’ in a suitably polished and professional way, finishing the cab journey £75 richer than when he’d started.

Outstanding post!
Biggins has absolutely rinsed it down the years, and good luck to him. Done eff all since 'Porridge', surviving on his groundbreaking portrayals of 'Widow Tvvanky' and any crap TV show that starts with the word, 'Celebrity'.
I know it was only £75. However, for what, five minutes work. So if we extrapolate that into say, a 35 hour working week, that's an annual salary of £1.638m per annum!

Farcical nature of it all!
Credit to Biggins for one thing, 51 years on he’s one of three (out of five) surviving emperors from I, Claudius. Chuck in Livia and Sejanus.
