I can’t match Discodroid’s ‘eulogy’ about East Ham Dave so I’ll make mine simple.
My old man passed away on Saturday, he was the reason I support the club I love.
He was an Arsenal man through & through but living in NW London his mates working for Westminster council were QPR fans. Low & behold we went on the famous league cup run in 1967, so they said while don’t you bring the boys along? ( that being me & my brother) so we went to the semi-final v Birmingham & subsequently the final, I was hooked & from that day they were my team.
Thanks Dad

That's a lovely phrase to use.
Dads (and parents collectively) don't always get it right but the values we have we tend to instill in our children. Even when they don't recognise that they are a product of those parents.

Sorry to hear about ND's Dad,

Condolences.

My dad went last year. I'm missing him a lot more than I thought I would because we weren't that close, but I keep on finding myself thinking for a split second, ah dad will know that, I'll ask him...
