Well that was beautiful, Nix, wasn't it? That's the best thirty minutes of Warburtonball that we played all season without doubt, and when it's played well it's an utter joy to watch. Luton really stood off us and that suited us perfectly. Particularly they stood off Manning and he played well as a result. I thought Ball and Eze were equally great in their differing ways. I thought we should have been more than 3-0 up, Eze in particular was not as snappy in his finishing as he'd become later in the season with only one goal from his four shots. BFG also impressive when given time to ping those diags. Joyous stuff. But then we tired mentally, Back on now and back at 3-2. [Post edited 18 Apr 2020 16:10]

Luton (H) on Rewind on 16:39 - Apr 18 with 953 views | BrianMcCarthy | Slightly frustrating, I'd imagine, to be at that game and see us only win 3-2 and be happy to do so?

Luton (H) on Rewind on 16:53 - Apr 18 with 930 views | LazyFan | Eze played on the right but when we had the ball he drifted all the way over to the left, which caught Luton out. This allowed us to score goals 1 and 3. Also, they made the mistake of playing it tight and letting us have the wings and standing off us as we played it out. They were really not challenging enough in the first half. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

It was getting a bit tense in the last fifteen minutes. But that first half an hour was such a high that I left the match very happy. It was the first time that I really believed in how we could play if they all clicked together.

Yes, good points. It took me a few minutes to figure out our formation - it must have been tough to play against. And, ya, they really stood off for far too long. As did we in the second half - nerves, maybe?

Luton (H) on Rewind on 17:02 - Apr 18 with 913 views | Northernr | Fck me that first half from Eze was pretty close to perfection. He’s going to be one of those we only realise quite how good he was once he’s gone. From Eze street to fright fest — Report 15th Sep 2019 15:48QPR combined sumptuous attacking play with suicidal defensive decision in a tubthumping 3-2 home victory against Luton Town at Loftus Road on Saturday. 15

Ya, I can see now why those at the match were so happy. The angles were there all the time in that. Every player in possession had two passes open every time, and the ball was pinged around rapidly. It was lovely stuff. Yesterday I watched again Barca's 5-0 stuffing of Real in Nov 2010 and it's simply the best game of football I've ever seen. It's also surely the pinnacle of Cryuff/Bielsa/Guardiola/Sexton football that Warburton aspires to. Those thirty minutes was as close as we've come to our humble version of it. And we did it with youths, loans and 50k.

And he tired, but he was - quite rightly - the one on the ball when the final whistle blew, on a mazy run with defenders backing off him, scared senseless.

That is the best 30 minutes that I can remember us playing. It’s all relative etc and there are those here with better and longer memories, but for me, it is one of those grateful to be there days.
