Years ago the Mrs asked If we could go and watch it so I said 'whatever' what a pile of sanctimonious SHIT. Ryan O'Neal and Ali MacGraw waffling at each other about nothing for far too long, she ends up being terminally ill in the film and I'm sat there in the pictures thinking "oh get on with it and konk out I wanna go home"
Bull shit and Top Gun wasn't much better either feel the need for speed my arse.
My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

Oh, I've seen them all Nix. No choice, an ex of mine loved them and they'd appear without warning. Presumably as proof that God hates me. Or she hated me. Or both.
Ya, the elvish one was also nonsense. The huge battles were replicated in Game of Thrones and all I could every time was "where did all these people come from and where do they live? I haven't seen a house in four hours?"
I can see why she's an ex though.
That's a very good point. I'd never thought about that. Fortunately I never intend to see another film that involves fantastical creatures, otherwise it would bug me too!

My worst was Alvin & the Chipmunks three times in a row, taking an Under 9s rugby team on a coach to France.
Hung-over snoozing on the sofa on a rainy day one morning. My young niece and nephew, bright as buttons, bowl into the room. Within seconds Alvin & The Chipmunks is blaring out of my sister's ridiculoulsy over-the-top home cinema set-up
I begin negotiations - they can watch anything they want (even The Shawshank Redemption!) Anything at all but please not Alvin & The Chipmunks again. I think I ended up paying them.

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one's lifetime." (Mark Twain)

I still can’t make my mind up about this. I guess there’s a thin line.
I watched the double the other week. Truly the least enjoyable film I've seen. Directed by Richard ayoade, it was this crappy, pretentious art film, but with no prospect of a fit bird getting her kit off, which is normal for an 'art film'. There was no humour, no smiling, no excitement, no great characters, no colour, no suspense. Truly shyte

We gave up on that film after 10 minutes.
Off the top of my head:
Star Trek: The Motion Picture - I cried with boredom in the cinema it was that disappointing.
Every film featuring Owen Wilson - except possibly Meet The Parents?
The Mrs Brown Movie - of course.
Armageddon - usually my kind of film but overblown patriotic nonsense and Bruce Willis is unwatchable in it.
Rocky Horror Picture Show - my idea of Hell.
Suffering since 1978.

I'm with you on Mrs Brown's Boys. Some things I can't stand but can understand why others like them. Like Heavy Metal or Celebrity Juice. But Mrs Brown's Boys I can't even understand how it passes for humour.
As for SATC2 I can only imagine how bad that was. I could barely stand SATC1 and I liked the series and I hear 2 was significantly worse than one. Love Actually I do like but I'm a both soft sap and think Emma Thompson was brilliant in the scene when she finds the necklace isn't for her, and when she tells Alan Rickman that he's made a fool out of her and their life together. Also found Hugh Grant dancing v funny, especially as it's so incongruent. But I do get why it makes other people cringe, and women as much as men, it's as soft as a mouldy marshmallow! I'm not with you on Love Story either, that makes me cringe.
I'm another Lost in Translation fan.
Most sporting films are incredibly poor. Fever Pitch was dreadful and disappointing as I'd enjoyed the book and it had the potential for being funny but wasn't. There's a film called Wimbledon, obviously about tennis, that's truly bad.
As for films that had great reviews but were a letdown, French Lieutenants Woman was boring, and another one with Meryl Streep called Plenty was yawn-inducing too. You can't just have Meryl staring into the camera mournfully and call it deep and intellectual without any snappy dialogue or point you are making.
I asked Warbs for a good sports film, bit weird but I'm enjoying it
