Famous last words, he hasn't made a mistake yet so there's bound to be one soon and I hope I'm not pre-empting that, but thought he was worth his own thread...
Very nice to have a goalkeeper that doesn't terrify the life out of me again. Looking super confident and composed atm. Passes the ball better than some of our midfielders, good command of the area, and some amazing saves last few weeks.
You say he looks the real deal, and I hope he is, but there is something very "stocky" or "heavy" about him to my eyes. I'm not talking about being overweight, or fat or anything like that, he is big and powerful and when i first saw him I wondered whether he would be agile enough and fast enough, but so far so good. In the last couple of games he has been worked a bit more and has had to start making saves.
Certainly his confidence with the ball at his feet and his ability to play it out under pressure is better than Joe and probably Liam Kelly. His general distribution seems pretty solid and very few kick outs ending up in one of the side stands.

So far so good, but early days.
He's unconventional but was doing fine until NorthernR gave him the kiss of death basically.
He'll have to play in front of crowds of arseholes one day. Week in week out.
Fantastic watching Dieng develop. No-nonsense confident keeper. Commands the box. Has a way of getting down to low shots and targeted headers that I'm sure the opposition player thinks is goal bound but he pulls out that flipper and round the post it goes. Not far off being our strongest player.
I wrote that a fortnight ago in a previous Dieng thread wondering if I’d also be jinxing it. But it’s looking like Seny doesn’t do jinxes. I think we have a top keeper on our hands.
The thing that impresses me is his calmness. He never looks flustered.
He definitely does Bosh. His time at Dundee may have helped with this as it sounds like he got used to playing in a struggling defence, which at times we still are.
He was on the offish podcast this week and he really sounds so relaxed he's almost horizontal. I think he's relishing his time as first team goalie as he's had a lot of time out on loan, as well as playing quite a few matches in Switzerland and Germany before he came to us. Like everyone else, says, I don't want to jinx him but he's the first goalie we've had since Smithies that I haven't been on tenterhooks about. Both Lumley and Kelly had great moments and games but seemed more prone to the odd head fart.

Quite - it's called being a professional player and being massively professionally supported for it - not to mention colossally well-paid compared to mere mortals like us.( I suspect even an OK emerging Champ keeper like Dieng consistently earns more in a week than I do in a month or two at worst.) Good players thrive on the limelight, embrace it and win their supporters over, whether they're talented, half-decent or limited (I'll pick off the top of my head Paul Furlong, Ian Holloway and Devon White). Poor players without guts, confience or the ability to work with whatever they have (think Dean Coney, Ernie Howe and, I'm afraid, the loaned Lummers) don't.
But wow - your level of respect for Rs fans makes our manager's attitude to the so-called 'keyboard warriors' in the fan base (among which I'd say MW probably includes even the likes pf Clive, whose levels of articulate ranting are George Carlin-esque to my minor Albert-Tatlock fulminations ) look like one of the upper echelons of man love.
Just out of interest - where are those QPR fans who post here on your continuum of arsiness?
"PS On a fashionably multiethnic note, we hear a lot about the lack of black manager/coaches, but anyone have a view on why are there so few black goalkeepers?"
Perhaps because they are not stupid enough to want to stand around doing nothing for long periods of time. It was always said you had to me mad to want to be a goalkeeper!
Cant fault him thus far........well done player and manager, long way to go but good start, big plus for us because we have been struggling in this area.

Dieng looks great - calm and dominant. What I find really odd is that he's not a youngster - he's 26 tomorrow (happy birthday Seny!) and he's been with us 4 years. Is he a late developer or what? Why has it taken so long for him to be given his chance, which he has taken with both bucket-sized hands?
I watch the streams with Mrs FB and she still gets nervous when our keeper has the ball at his feet and is getting closed down. She has got used to this since Smithies left and before that we had Green! I am, however very calm these days.
I enjoy how comfortable he makes me feel when a high cross comes in as his handling is excellent which sadly I couldn't say for Joe Lumley. He will eventually make errors all goalkeepers do even Smithies had his one bad game at Ipswich and watching all seasons highlights shocked me how many howlers Stejskal made when in my mind he was a good solid citizen. Dieng though saves ones you would expect a keeper to make and has made a world class save at Blackburn . Here's a good way to judge how many other Championship keepers would you choose ahead of him maybe 2 or 3 tops

Slightly off topic but WTF was Smithies doing for Millwall’s goal yesterday.
Perhaps Big Posh Matt used to steal his lunch money or debag him in training. He seemed to cower in his presence.
