Just thrown an eye over our remaining fixtures (slow morning, students doing a test and it's a bit nippy outside) and reckon we can pick up another 27 points. So sixty would be a decent return and should see us nudging into the top half.

A sad reflection of the club is that it's become just about survival in this league and nothing above.

Now someone is going to make an excuse list of all the things we lack.

We lack points.

2T2B is being a misery

When you look at the players we brought in over the last 2 seasons (while slashing the wage bill!), as long as things don't go pear shaped in the next 19 games, we'll be well placed to push on.
Dieng (26), Kane (25)/Kakay (23), Dickie, Masterson, Barbet (27), Niko (22); Amos (23), Carroll, Field (22) , Chair (22) , Ball, Shodipo (?), Willock (22); Dykes (25) and Bonne (24) need to improve their return but may find Kelman and/or Kendall pushing them.

I'm assuming that Cameron is released and both Wallace and Adomah aren't going to be around for long.

I have managed to collate the following and my eyes have gone skewiff. Hope, there aren't any errors. The chart below shows the points of teams in the two critical positions at the end of the season and after 28 and 27 games.

Played 46 Played 28 Played 27
21st 22nd 21st 22nd 21st 22nd
04/05 50 Crewe (-20) 50 Gillingham (-21) 30 Cardiff 26 (Gil) 27 Cardiff 25 (Gil)

06/07 49 Hull 46 Leeds 30 Hull 26 Barnsley 27 Hull 26 Barnsley
07/08 53 Coventry 52 Leicester 26 Leicester 25 Brighton 29 Sheff W 27 Preston
08/09 51 Plymouth 46 Norwich 29 Derby 27 Watford 27 Donc R 26 Norwich
09/10 49 Palace 47 Sheff W 30 Ipswich 26 Reading 27 Palace 25 Plymouth
10/11 48 Doncaster 42 Preston 28 Sheff U 27 Palace 28 Sheff U 26 Palace
11/12 48 Barnsley 40 Portsmouth 24 Portsm'th 24 Donc R 24 Forest 23 Donc R
12/13 55 Barnsley 54 Peterborough 29 Sheff W 26 Peterbo 28 Sheff W 25 Peterbo
13/14 44 Brum (-16) 44 Donc R (-31) 27 Charlton 27 Millwall 26 Millwall 25 Donc R
14/15 46 Rotherham 41 Millwall 27 Rotherh 27 Millwall 26 Rotherh 24 Millwall
15/16 49 Rotherham 40 Charlton 25 Rotherh 24 Bristol C 24 Rotherh 24 Bristol C
16/17 51 Forest (-11) 51 Blackburn (-12) 26 Burton 26 Blackburn 25 Wigan 25 Burton
17/18 43 Bolton 41 Barnsley 25 Hull 25 Sunderland 25 Bolton 24 Burton
18/19 44 Millwall 40 Rotherham 25 Rotherh 23 Reading 25 Rotherh 23 Reading
19/20 49 Barnsley 48 Charlton 28 Stoke 24 Barnsley 25 Stoke 24 Barnsley

We currently have 33 points from 27 games.

Last season Hull went down with 45 points. They had 39 after 27 games! They are the only team is the last sixteen years to have had 33 or more points after 27 games to have gone down. Remember they weakened the team in January by selling their two best players.

The others with 30+ who succumbed were:
2013/13 Wolves went down(23rd position) with 51points, 32 after 27.
2007/08 Leicester down with 52 points, 30 after 27.
2006/07 Luton bottom with 40, 31 after 27.

If we can pick up a few points in the next four games and keep the confidence high we should be fine.

Edit sorry it was much better spaced and easier to read before it was posted

Thanks FB. Interesting summary.

Been doing my own research and it seems that in every season since records began, the teams relegated at the end of the season accumulated fewer points than the team one place above the drop zone, or had the same points but a worse goal difference.

Spooky.

Arguing the club can't strategise long term cos the fans are too old to see it is a good bit, wish I'd come up with that.

Not being flippant about it 2T2B, very cognisant of your current position. But is that a genuine concern? Is there any way of determining the average age profile of the fan base? I agree it's quite 'mature' on here, but is this an accurate reflection of the age-profile that goes to games? If so, then you are right, especially with the extended lockdown, there is a real danger that younger fans will have found other ways to amuse themselves and won't come back
On the other hand, 2T2B, we WERE young once and Rangers have been shite for the majority of that time. So following crap QPR teams is not new and we never wavered in our support for them. Hopefully the next generation will feel the same.

Yes there is, Hoo's has mentioned it a couple of times I believe.
The club is trying o do things in the community but I can't imagine that's got far in the last year.
It's pretty much a fact that our fans are the middle to older gens.

Football is expensive to go to, has been for a while, and we are not much of an attraction in the lower half of the Championship year after year, never get much of a cup run going.

It's us old gits out of loyalty made many years ago and now with age waning, you'll mostly see on match days,

It feels to me the club is slowly dying.

It needs an injection of real success soon or it's heading for the knacker's yard.

I think it will be an issue, before lockdown a year ago my Son was asking to go to away games and looking forward to going to home games, since then he rarely lasts more than 15 minutes watching the stream as he wants to do other stuff and I'm not sure how keen he is going to be when we can go again. Having 2 local clubs in the prem and possibly Brentford next season getting young people into QPR is not going to be easy

Good point. My son is very similar, whether football or cricket (his two great loves), he'll happily spend all day playing or watching it livr. But watching on a stream?
'Dad, can we watch YouTube?'

If we can't get back to a situation where we can all watch sport again, clubs like ours will struggle to attract the next generation.

For me and my son, going to a live game is a day out together and so much more than just watching the football - it's the anticipation traveling to the game, the food before hand, watching the warm-up's and the journey home. We live in Yorkshire, so a home game is a full day out - we're both itching to be able to go to live football again!

I think your way over-optimistic.

I see a finish on 49 pts and only surviving due to Wycombe and Sheff Wed's 6 pts deduction. Poor Rotherham may go down as the final three, considering they have no money in a pandemic one has to feel for them as they have tried really hard.

I think it may be time for you to reconsider our final points total.

Despite only having a 33% success rate thus far on predicting individual points haul (Preston/Wycombe/Milwall) my final calculation may not be too far off! Story of my life really; do a fair bit of meandering around but usually get there or thereabouts in the end
