Looks like we are going to have a B Team as well as academy, sounds like a good idea and best of both worlds

Sounds like a good idea to me.

As mentioned previously, I was quite surprised when Bircham said on Open All R's that when he and Steve Gallen were at the club they had advised the club to scrap the youth system and follow the B team model.

A very good idea

I don't think the FA should ever have got rid of reserve football.

Acadamy upto under 18 but under 23 seems a waste of time. Imagine how much more our youngsters would of progressed if they were playing against men at 18 years old

Sounds a good idea, combined with loans this will hopefully reduce the likelihood of players development stalling (e.g. Smyth, Masterson) when they're on the cusp of the first team and speed up development of players so they're first team ready earlier (Alfa, Bansal-McNulty etc).

It should also make us a more attractive option for players released from the top tier academies and allows us to better compete for players with the clubs with B teams already in place.

This should mean we loan out less players and the likes of Bettache and Masterson can keep up their development whilst occupying the bench for the first team. They might even get to play before a home biased crowd at some non league grounds.

Being as next season the rules state a 20 man squad will apply having a competitive B team made up of mainly players under the age of 21 will be imperative.
Looking at the 20 man squad named at Bristol City yesterday there may be only 2 or 3 players that could be omitted next season without weakening the squad significantly..

I thought that was only for league one and two clubs, and that Championship clubs were limited to 25 players?
