Yeah, bottomless, but how much pop does a person need to drink? My eldest brother loves Nando's and always goes, "But it's bottomless Fanta!" like he's eight or something.
I'm gonna stick McDonalds in here, too. You can feel yourself dying as you eat it and the fries are rubbish. For some weird reason, I always succumb to it at Schiphol airport - and only Schiphol airport - and about four mouthfuls in, I begin to hate myself for giving in.
One of the most depressing events in my life is my wife craving a McDonalds when we got back to Stansted after a holiday in Italy, where we'd had mainly amazing meals, and sitting eating McDonalds in our car, in the McDonalds car park, about a mile from the airport. Every other car in a horseshoe shape, had people sat doing the same; often on their own. No-one looked happy - just staring into space and stuffing their faces with sh it. It would have made a great Martin Parr photo. It made me want to cry. |
Stick to the filet-o-fish if you have to go there is my advice. I hear they're not allowed to leave things lying around as long these days either so they'll be the one item on the menu that's better for it.
McD's an easy and worthy target but all its rivals - including/especially the fake artisan burger chains - seem worse now somehow. |  | | |

I got one of the daily recipes off Eurosport's Tour de France coverage last Friday.
It called for 'Pain aux Céréales'.
I went to the 'Artisan Bread Counter' in my local Dunnes Stores. Calling it 'Artisan' allows them to charge twice the price but you still get served by the two grumpy oul wans from DinnerLadies.
"YA???" (This means 'Hello, how can I help you?")
"Hi, have you "Pain aux Céréales, please?"
"WHA???"
"Pain aux Cér...."
"WHA'S THA, LIKE?"
"It's French, I think"
"BUH WHA ISIH, LIKE"

We gave up on going out for a roast in London, because so many were bang average and £15+ a go. Very happy to say that in Bristol, pre-pandemic you paid anywhere from £10-£14, and the worst has been a 7/10. Happy days.
Brian - given that Coleraine is a bit of a schlep for you from Cork, you are very welcome to join our Saturday morning bread club. Us and three of our neighbours take it in turns to do a bread run to Mark's Bread, which is an excellent bakers, which does every fancy loaf you could wish for (although Mark himself, has just retired). A large 7 seeded loaf for me and my wife, with a baguette for my son (although I nick half of it when no-one's looking). It's so good, that my son refers to all baguettes, wherever they're from, as 'Mark's Bread' rather than a "French stick" which is what my Mum and Dad insist on persisting with. One slice of the 7 seeds and you're full. Great stuff.
As a rule of thumb, you need to have delivered the bread by 09:30, but that's no hardship. It's a 2-3 minute walk from Ashton Gate. Often 20-30 people in front of you in the queue if you leave it too late, though. Let me know if you want to get involved. |  |

Pie N mash is about decent liquor and the moistness of the mash. (which I've just decided is a great name for a cover band).
I agree on Nando's it tastes ok but it's over priced and I can buy my own sauce and smother a KFC with it which I don't buy anyway but could if I wanted too. Infact I find chicken the shittest of meats. |

I prefer toast made from a sliced white. It gets just the right crisp / crunch for my taste buds.
But, it’s probably 18 months since I enjoyed the delicacy. Anyone every use a nice cheapo, poor quality slice, toast her up, spread a little ketchup on it and a sprinkle of oregano? Voila…Wembley pizza! | |

Absolutely this. The fresh sandwiches they do in those places make me wonder how on earth the likes of Subway even has a foothold in the German market. I digress.
Costa, Starbucks all cr@p coffee that just tastes of lukewarm soil water sold at rip-off prices. The Mrs loves Costa and their sandwiches and cakes, but they really are the lamest of efforts for the stupidest of prices. I’d rather have a McDonalds coffee, as at least I don’t feel cheated. (Although in complete agreement with Konk, eating a McDonald’s, except for the double sausage and egg McMuffin, is an admission of giving up.)

I don't know what Nando's is like post lockdown but pre lockdown, my one and only visit, meant me getting my drink, me getting my weapons, me getting my condiments and paying for it all up front.
Then when the food is delivered I get asked, "Is there anything I can get you"
