Apparently their stadium falls over the English/Welsh border as in the pitch is in Wales whilst a vast swath of the stadium including car park adjacent is in England. The Welsh government have called the police to stop the match being played in front of no more then 50 spectators and have advised Chester they could setup a large screen in the car park on the English side of the border, where the match can be shown to a few thousand spectators who can watch a match that's being played out literally yards away from them.

This is not a comedy sketch, its actually happening.

Read this on the BBC yesterday, apparently the matches mentioned were actually policed by the Cheshire Police Force!
You couldn’t make it up!

They've already had the scenario where a Rugby match couldn't be played outdoors in front of more than 50 spectators whilst the hosting Rugby club's clubhouse was packed full of people watching it inside.

Drakeford is a danger. I hope WRU take their home 6 Nations matches to England.

What's supposed to happen? If the stands are in Wales then they fall under Welsh guidelines. Perhaps the club could be granted an exemption as a special case, but then that may be a rabbit hole the Wales administration doesn't want to go down.

I'm a fairly frequent visitor to the Welsh border area. You can be drivng along and a road sign will say Welcome To Wales then just up the road Welcome To England. This can go on and on.

Straight out of a Python sketch.

Drakeford it a moron, surely though if policed by Cheshire that's English and therefore they should be allowed to play as per English rules.

From the BBC, “Land registry confirms that the whole ground is within the administrative area of Cheshire West and Chester Council”
Surely this means it comes under their rules and not Wales just because the majority of the ground is in Wales (the main entrance and car park are in England!).
Anyway, it’s just absurd!

If they took it to court then they would in all likelihood win on the basis of Land Registry (assuming the above is correct) so therefore Wales can fck off.

Or more accurately DRakeford can.

I work in Property Law and pretty much everything goes on Land Registry and how they alighn it

On a side note I went up to Birmingham a day before our game last week and watched Walsall v Newport at the Banks's (Bescot) Stadium.

First half was a bit drab but second half was excellent with goals galore. Walsall equalised to make it 1-1, cue celebrations and singing. Straight from kickoff Newport went up the other end and scored to make it 2-1.

"You're not singing anymore" they sang.

"You're not going to the pub" sang Walsall.

I thought we had the same during lockdown where they were selling tickets for the executive boxes, but they couldn’t watch the game taking place behind the curtains?Or was that another team?

just because the box office is in England, doesnt make it an English club.

The ground As in the stadium ( the box office isnt directly part of the stadium building) is in Wales.
Pure and simple and comes under Welsh law.

This is what happens when you devolve government.
Feck em.....your in Wales, you play in your tin pot welsh football leagues...... are you listening Bardif, Swanselona, and shithole Newport? Made your bed you lie in it!

There, thts put them all straight, i feel better now.
Oh and hello from Iceland chaps, first night last night and a lovely Aurora too!
