They just lost their signal as an Aeroflot 777 was about to 'appear through the murk'. Damnit.
I'm in bed ill with a normally very clear view of the flight path out my bedroom window but haven't seen any planes for at least a couple of hours - suppose they must be re-routing them in some way.
I also slept through 87. Left for work and the tree outside my house on vespan road was laying over my neighbours car 😆
We lost 4-0 at Anfield a couple of days later
Think we might need to start a new group "I slept through the storm of 1987...".
Thursday night was pool night so a skin full was consumed. Car was surrounded by roof tiles but not a scratch on it and the corner shop was boarding up it's windows. Assumed there'd been a riot in the night (as you do in 1987 Eastbourne) but told there was a storm with many roads blocked due to fallen trees. I figured a small village between me and my place of work would have copped it so went back to bed. Next day someone said the village road was blocked so, free day off with alibi intact.

Went to see Bob Dylan at Wembley that evening, so was deafened to everything. Alarm clock didn't go off because electricity was down. Woke up to find a tree fallen across the front door. Happy days.
The landing is always my least favourite part. I suppose it's encouraging that they don't try to land if they don't like the look of it. That A380 seemed to hover in the air for an age before pulling up.
"Abort abort. He just didn't like it. Oh man this guys all over the shop. Dirty configuration. All that wind rushing around the undercarriage. You don't need that. Get it up. Woaaaah!"

That was one of my first away games out of London, was 11 we went on a football special train. In the ground I can still see the mountain of pies as each person who bought one took one bite spat it out and threw it on the floor
