Hooliganism 23:24 - Feb 13 with 14892 viewsloftboy

I see Clive reported on a few QPR fans trying to get to the Millwall fans on the way to the ground, seen lots of videos from various places all over the country recently showing fights or attempted fights , there were middle aged blokes fighting teenagers at Plymouth v Pompey this week, Leeds and Forest the week before, not to mention that thick Chelsea fan getting knocked out at the weekend. So my question is, is the great English disease on the increase again?

Lots of people in the UK are skint, stressed, angry, and are being told to look over their shoulder all the time.

Some of us drink, some of us rant on Twitter, some of us burn down asylum seeker centres, some of us bash fck out of each other at the football.

It does feel a very, very angry place at the moment. Lots of people just not giving a fck.
The amount of fcking litter around the place too, drive down A roads now and it's basically like 30 miles of elongated council tip.

A mixture of not giving a fck and despair I think.

Like QPR, the problems emanate at the top and that's where the fixing needs to start.

There’s definitely something uniquely toxic about football. It’s not a societal problem, it’s a unique problem that exist with a demographic of men that watch football.

People going to football aren’t skint. Stressed and angry maybe, but still no excuse.

There’s a lot to positive about, for example the current round of strike action shows people can work together to try and improve things. There are also plenty of good people giving up their time to volunteer in their local communities. These idiots at football don’t have an excuse. They’re drugged up bone heads, everything that’s wrong with society, not victims of it.

Deffo seems to have come flooding back post lockdown. A lot of people seem to have used the scenes at the Euro final as an instruction manual

Sticking a flare up your backside whilst snorting gear is nothing compared to QPR vs Luton at st Pancras back in 87 , I’d say today is more anti social behaviour than football hooliganism , back in the day it was a lot more violent
A wet fart could knock down some of these kids down today

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

Some people are just damaged/dopey/arseholes.

Not sure the 50-60 year old blokes waddling about, giving it large despite being granddads, or the dopey young knobheads bouncing up and down, with only two coppers in the middle of the road standing between them and the biggest off of all-time, are running around doing the hoolie cosplay because of austerity or a lack of rewarding and fairly-paid employment opportunities. I think they’re just anti-social twa ts who should grow the fu ck-up.

Given you can get a proper stretch for things you would almost never have been done for in the past, I’m amazed that any of the older heads are prepared to get involved, knowing the amount of cameras knocking about. Zero sympathy for them.

I don't condone this type of behaviour but a sentence of close to two years for throwing a chair at a pub window, no reports of a punch up, injuries etc. ?

Football fan related indiscretions must rank very highly on the misdemeanor : sentence ratio

I'm not sure I'd class the boys I saw on Saturday, giving it the biggun behind lines of police or to people in cars, and then melting like fcking ice cream as soon as one bloke gets out the car and says "come on then let's go" as hooliganism of any sort.

Yet again, QPR fail. When did we last produce a good, high-quality hooligan? They just get picked up by Chelsea these days at 12, and work their way from the Family Stand through the Matthew Harding Upper to the Matthew Harding lower and we never get a look in. Les has to answer for this. How many years now has he had to build a firm? And yet all we get are these lads who just won't put in a shift, don't know how to throw a punch. I don't blame Critchley for this. It's Hoos and Les and his mates. They should be looking at the lower league clubs to get cheap hooligans. Barrow style themselves "the Millwall of non-League". Why aren't we scouting the Barrow hooligans?

Without saying too much about it, I work in this kind of line and I can confirm this type of behaviour is definitely on the rise - and it's certainly not just in the UK. Across Europe there's a lot more of this carry-on every match day than there was pre-Covid, without a doubt

I’m not saying people are hoolies because of austerity. Obviously there is a big dollop of self responsibility but austerity lays the conditions in which it thrives.

Dismissing everyone as a coked up thug is a bit lazy to be honest. It’s a complex social situation.

Yeah, it's like the Chelsea fan who got lamped at the West Ham game. That was very funny because he's giving it large and then the guy just sparks him out.

I get the bit about kiddies wanting to act-up because they’re dopey youngsters, and I get the bit about fat old blokes being faces and enjoying the fact that they’re respected by their hoolie peers and youngsters for their tales of taking on 300 blokes single-handedly, but people who actually enjoy hurting other people as opposed to just mouthing-off and pavement dancing, aren’t they just mentally damaged?

I've got no problem with how they do it in some other countries (mainly Eastern Europe) - arranged fights in the woods. Numbers agreed beforehand, no weapons used etc.
Keeps it all away from the normal football-going public and no-one gets mixed up in it that doesn't want to
