To me, it sounded like a one off comment said in jest.
It could come across as slightly demeaning but who hasn't said something that could easily be taken in the wrong way and the gentleman that complained wrote a load of abuse by way of response.
The whole situation shows a great deal of how society reacts ridiculously over the top to so called inappropriate words.
People on this thread calling Vaughan a c**t. Really. Slightly worse than what he supposedly said.
On a similar vein Meghan Markle calling out royal family as racist due to being questioned over potential colour of her child.
I went out with Asian girl years ago. My parents wondered if their first grandchildren could be brown.
A current Asian friend of mine told me yesterday her sister who is married to a white man, her child is completely white.
It's ridiculous scenario.
I believe others were found guilty.
But if the only actual racist comment Vaughan reportedly said which could be said as kind of gentle jibe, it's mad he been investigated.
Speaking as a white man that was engaged to an Indian girl and has Asian friends today.... |  |

Yeah and Yorkshire held onto these tweets, held no sanction on him, until the are released at the exact moment they needed to discredit him for calling out the culture of racism at the club. That he was not punished or held to account for them for many years, but published when he makes accusations doesn't make Yorkshire look very good tbh. Does antisemitism only count once you criticise the club?
Almost like this is exactly the "what about" conversation they were designed to deliver.
Yorkshire CC is rotten, and Vaughan was a leader in that culture, regardless of whether they proved his exact wording - at best he was a senior leader who turned a blind eye to an embedded culture of racism, at worst they can't quite prove he actively participated in that culture.
EDIT to make it clearer I was saying that Yorkshire did nothing about Rafiq's post, which does not cover them in glory [Post edited 3 Apr 2023 9:57]
