They didn't turn up unfortuntely. In the tunnel before the start, they were laughing and joking - one thing is to be relaxed and at ease, but the Spanish were steely faced focussed by comparison.

I thought the ref had a great game, not perfect but way better than the quality in The Championship. |
She did lose a bit of control in extra time for sure with Spain kicking the ball away at will with no punishment .
But Chloe should have seen yellow for that late hit / stamp so maybe the ref just said fcuk it lets play ball.
Spain had the legs all night and kept running at a tired England late to kill it off but were a bit naive not finding the corner flag I guess they knew England were dead .
Still a great 2 years for England but the future looks like Spain IMO |  | | |

We looked very leggy and tired today. The definition of a 'game too far'. We were outpaced and overrun by a much stronger team on the day. I thought we were slow and one paced in midfield, where the game was lost. It's very difficult for a coach, because she does the right thing bringing on the right players at half time but there was never really any authority on the ball and well, it felt like the tank was empty for some reason. James never got into the game and Chloe couldn't seem to get any real advantage down the flank. But overall they did very well.
For Wiegman it was a disappointing way to bow out but she's the most fantastic coach. Her girls simply ran out of gas and Spain played with far more energy and intent. She may reflect on what Vilda did. He alienated half his team, has been criticised for not turning up for training sessions and being incredibly lazy in the build up for the tournament... and he was the winning coach. Perhaps if Wiegman was that unprofessional we would have won? But seriously, a great effort, European Champions and World Cup Finalists. They've done better than the men and I feel we will come back strongly.

I mentioned on an earlier thread that with key players retired and injured we may have lost a bit of zest. I honestly didn’t think we’d get to the final so am chuffed they were able to but it was hard work (and deserved). Just seemed to have run out of steam when Spain were still on full gas.
I’m not in favour of their managers approach as the ends doesn’t justify the means and with so many players at odds with him he can’t have been doing something good but as always in these situations it’ll be “see, I told you” but that doesn’t always make it right.
Lots to be hopeful of at all levels & genders and is certainly better than the dross I had to watch a few decades ago. | | | |

Thought Russo should have done better for the goal, switched off and allowed the girl to spring past her and by the time she reacted it was too late.
Overall they did far better than most expected given the injuries, got a bit fortunate with the draw opening up for them but took full advantage and runners up is nothing to be ashamed of. |  | | |
