The pre-Bosman rule at the time was that if a player's contract was expiring/expired then the club had to offer him a similar or better contract or the player could walk for free. We didn't, it seems, and got no fee when he moved.
Can't remember if it was Chivers or Fillery, just remember not being sad either way. But I always thought of the Rangers employee who would be held to account by Jim Gregory. | |
