Saw Hawkwind with my then GF (now long time wife) at the top Rank Reading very early 70's, when they done 'Silver Machine' the place erupted, we were stoned to death for about a week after. Hawkwind walked on stage and handed out lit spliffs to all and sundry. When the show ended there were dead Hippies everywhere.
Similarly Ten Years after at Reading Uni also early 70's, Alvin Lee was just awesome that night.................
I never got see Jimi Hendrix as for the last two years of his life I was stuck In West Germany In the Army single handedly fighting off the naughty Russian and East German Army.
I'm content that I saw my hero Paul Kossoff live with Free before he left the band and subsequently passed away, the night we saw them they done all their hits and classic as ''All right Now'' Is It was just bliss being In the audience watching and listening to Kossoff lovingly playing ''The Hunter'' on his beautiful 59' Gibson Les Paul.
That's how It Is.

I only saw Hendrix once, pre Woodstock, through the window of The Farx Southall (The Northcote Arms back room) stood on a beer barrel. I also saw Keith Emerson in a similar fashion at the same venue. I was only 15 at the time and not allowed in.

Some very fortunate folks in this post. To the OP I'd love to have seen both of those and to swoon in the presence of the great Tina Weymouth. Like the first album track thread, just so many.
Perhaps not the ultimate, but one that particularly gets to me is that I had tix to see Sharon Jones for her first Oz tour. This was two great albums into her career and I didn't go as I decided to support a mate as his band were playing their first gig that night. Never got the chance to see her again before she passed. Massive regret.

Bands at their peak that I should have seen? Pixies, probably. I did see The Breeders, though. A-OOOO-OO!

There are two that got away. Aswad at Meanwhile Gardens Notting Hill carnival 1984 (Live And Direct is the album) - i was too tired from just got back from a few weeks away. And Tom Petty in Hyde Park a couple of weeks before he died - i had tickets and sold them, can't remember why.
But of those i was just about old enough to go to, i would love to have seen Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac and Pistols in their prime. Seen them all since though.
My musical claim to fame is singing "54-46 That's My Number" on karaoke in the Pavilion on North Pole road. I walked back to my table after and Brinsley Forde nodded at me.
Gig that got away was Amy Winehouse at Bush in 2007. Free tickets offered up and I decided I'd stay in the pub.

Also had tickets for prince at Wembley arena in his prime. Got cancelled as he was having issues with his record company.
Tickets were in the 4th row. Couldn’t get a refund as the guy who got me the tickets was friends with Stan Flashman. Worked opposite me had a huge arcade empire called Mr B,s.
Wasn’t a fan just wanted to witness.

Back in 1977-8 ish I used to go to Brunel Uni on a Friday night with my best mate as they nearly always had decent bands on. Couldn't get out of work fast enough one evening as The Pink Fairies were playing and I don't think we ever missed any of their gigs in and around London. Got to Brunel and there was an over sticker; Pinks not playing but will be replaced by SPOTS. Never heard of them so went to a phone box and phoned a mate to look in the Melody Maker to see if there was any info on them. Zilch! so rather than waste our £1.50 we went to the John Bull in Chiswick instead. I am still sick to this day that I later learnt that SPOTS was an acronym for Sex Pistols On This Stage which they used to get around venue bans and I never did get to see them. The opposite was the night we turned up, and paid to see a band we'd never heard of called Genesis. The band came on stage, started playing some dramatic prog rock and then a right tvvat in a long white robe with a Sunflower on his head came and started singing a bout the return of a giant hogweed. We saw about 10 mins of this and went somewhere else, possibly the Tithe Farm House as they always had great pub bands on.
30 years on, brixton, perhaps a few of you were at this.... great watch....
