A good subject for a thread but it's so tough, I find, to pick a favourite artist. With some artists, I find some of their work sublime, but some of it disappointing and of much lower standard.
I was thinking of picking Black Sabbath but most people know what they sound like so I'll pick Californian rock band Djam Karet.
I don't know of any band which can combine electronic and acoustic instrumentation so well, all their albums are strong, plus latterly, they have expanded their musical palette to encompass ambient textures, very successfully in my humble opinion.
They've been operating since the 80s but here's something quite recent:
"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

I said on a previous thread that Julian Lage is my favourite living guitarist but Pat Metheny is probably my favourite ever artist ever. This track, Are You Going With Me, is off his 1982 album that got me hooked ever since.

Oh my lord - I don't think I have a favourite ever artist - it probably changes with something new I've found at any given time. Perhaps the Kill Devil Hills I was listening to a lot at one stage and still love

Can I add that if I'm thinking of a band that has always been around and maybe I don't listen to all the time but when I do I still love them. They have stood the test of time so that you could pick many a tune from way back all the way through their illustrious career
