Jumped off the sofa when that winner went in .
Hungary got what they deserved . Likewise so did Ireland

Brilliant!

Watching it on holiday in an Irish Bar in Lanzarote which did go mental when the winner was scored. Fantastic finish by Troy Parrot who has added tens of millions to his value this week and shown himself to be a world class striker. So pleased for Declan & the Irish R’s who are out there and for all the players especially Seamus Coleman who deserves to finish his international career at a World Cup. Who would bet against Ireland in a two leg play-off after their two victories this week?

Same here
Proper old school winner
I said to the other half that if they get one with 10/15 minutes to go they have a chance of doing it
Double pleased that the Hungarians are out, what a load of cheating gits they are
The left back who is at Liverpool spent more time on the floor than actually playing
Well done Eire

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

My wife thought there was something wrong with me such was the noise I was making when the winner went in. Fabulous week for us long suffering Irish lads.

Magical last few minutes and yes the time wasting from a world class player Szoboszlai was laughable he really took the pi*s and got no yellow .
Not sure I would want to have to make my way through their Ultras after that loss but fair play to Ireland they really answered the bell this week.
QPR fans have to check out the celebration when Parrot took his shirt off and sprinted towards the bench with everybody chasing him.Jimmy Dunne nearly took out an Irish coach who was standing in disbelief its just superb
Have to avoid Italy or Poland now but happy to be alive

What I found interesting was that Dunne was sitting beside Hallgrímsson on the bench, chatting one-on-one with him, and that the chat was clearly two-way.

"Who would bet against Ireland in a two leg play-off after their two victories this week? "

The problem with that is that they're not two legs. I've no idea how they will determine which countries are at home in the semi final & finals, but I assume that it will be based on rank rather than an open draw.

I've copied this from the FIFA website -

"How qualifying works

The first round will follow a familiar format, with 12 groups of four or five teams, and the group winners securing World Cup slots.

The continent's four remaining berths will then be settled in a 16-team UEFA play-off competition involving the 12 group runners-up and four best-ranked UEFA Nations League section winners who did not finish in the top two of their World Cup qualifying groups.

The 16 teams will be drawn into four play-off paths, each featuring four teams, with single-leg semi-finals and finals taking place in March 2026."

In terms of how the draw will work, the teams will get seeded into 4 pots. Teams in Pot 1 will be drawn at home against a team from Pot 4. Teams in Pot 2 will be drawn at home to a team in Pot 3. Each game is one leg.

There will be a separate draw which will decide which winning team gets to play at home in each final.

Lads and Lassies, this is not complicated.

Éire now have to win two one-off games in a row.

If drawn away, they will travel to Atlantis.
If drawn at home, they will play at Tír na nÓg.

Simples.

Not sure if this is good news Brian I was mistakenly thinking it was just a home and away against the same team then the winner goes to America .Now its 2 cup finals with zero room for error but its a long time between now and March hopefully all the boys will be fit and ready to lay it on the line

Ya, we have to win two games.
That's all.

We should embrace it.

Let's be honest, there's a million ways to qualify for this World Cup, and we've spurned most of them.

We've earned one more chance to join the four million and ninety-eight teams that have already qualified.

We are finally playing with a bit of drive, a bit of unity. We're finally a team.
There's a big party going on and they've left the door open.

Win two games, concentrate for three hours, and we can storm that party.

If the playoffs are in March 2026 it will be only 4 months before the World Cup starts.Good luck trying to sort out flights, tickets and hotels 4 months after everyone else has found out their schedules.
But fans will find a way to make it anyway.Good luck to the Irish for their cup finals to come.

Parrot has always been one of those players threatening to break out into something generally brilliant but never quite getting there, hopefully this will be the catalyst for him. What a week for him personally, for Jimmy, and everybody involved.

This game and the Scotland game the night before were incredible watches.

I haven't had a chance to see the highlights yet but the commentary when the winner went in is great on its own.

March should be interesting for the entire island, once UEFA figure out what these pots are about.

I thought that. Luckily, US customs is a piece of pis at the moment so should be able to just breeze straight through.
