Is anyone else feeling a bit depressed this evening? 20:50 - Jan 1 with 3002 viewsbosh67

Perhaps it's just that it's the first day of the year and my team phoned in a performance? It's the hope that kills you should definitely be the motto on the club badge. I don't usually feel too down about results but for some reason this one has floored me a bit. Anyone else feeling like that tonight?

Never knowingly right.

It's a tough one as we're all fans so when we play like we did against leicester we are top of the world and you serve up that tripe yesterday and it feels like the end of the world.

Always worth rembering we were not world beaters after Leicester and are not the worst team ever today but thats easy to say and wasn't how I felt during that second half yesterday

I think it’s more the performances against 3 of the worst sides in the league that’s the issue. I can take defeats but we just look so clueless and 2nd best in all 3 games.

Don't forget how great we all felt after Morgan scored against Birmingham. A an absolute classic night at Loftus Road. Sadly, yesterday was another sort of classic game at QPR. That's how it goes.

Let's be real for a moment, we're not getting in the play-offs this season, and we're not going to be in a relegation scrap. There'll be a few more games like Birmingham and a few more like Norwich.

Norwich may be in the bottom three but they're nowhere near as crap as we'd like to imagine. Obviously they've beaten us comprehensively on aggregate, but they also have 11 points from the last six games, which doesn't look like the form of a truly relegation threatened side. I'll be astonished if they go down.

Agreed. There are a lot worse teams in the championship than them .Couple that with the fact that they continue to be one of our bogey sides - remember MacDougall and Boyer in the seventies costing us what would have been our greatest season ever - and going for a fifth home win on the trot - it had disaster written all over it and so it turned out to be.
That said this was the third game on the run where we have not performed and it concerns me that our manager seems to be happy with the squad he has when clearly most of us feel we need a new keeper, someone who can hold the ball and play with it as a minimum addition to the squad.
The next month will be interesting.

I agree with you on that, but you can't think that performance yesterday was acceptable? I gave them a pass at Portsmouth, and to a large extent at West Brom, but that was fcking awful yesterday.

Not the worst ever, not a catastrophe, not "we're going down", but really bad. Sitting through that first half I just couldn't believe the standard of what I was watching.

Disappointed more than depressed. When we win, particularly games like Brum and Leicester, even Blackburn away, it does give me a spring in my step and and general good feeling. When we lose, I'm generally grumpy fo about an hour and then forget about it until the next game.

The last 3 games, I've just been very disappointed at the way we have played.

Didn't help that it was freezing cold and I haven't warmed up since. Had a ropey kebab on the Uxbridge Road before the game and it went downhill from there. Just feel a little numb after a little period of excitement and hope, as if the season has now been stripped of any potential pleasure. Maybe a win at West Ham will cheer me up and the prospect of a cup run otherwise it's just the realisation that this mire is our lot, seemingly for eternity.

Ain't you lot heard of a come down? Course you have. And New Year's Day is a classic come down moment. Clearly our players, like many of us, were suffering from the Xmas and NYE excesses, and so we all ended up depressed on Thursday night. We'd have probably been mildly non-plussed even if we'd won. Well, ok, maybe not.

But the key question is: why did this not affect the Norwich players? Because they don't celebrate NYE on the 31st of December in Norwich. They go by the Norfolk lunar calendar there, like the Chinese. So look out for their result on the 18th of Feb. Surprised no one else has factored this in....

I am surprised that you can give them a pass for Portsmouth and WBA . Those were winnable games if QPR bothered to attack. Norwich have a habit of beating QPR and have better players as well as on a reasonable run under their new manager.

Having said that, the 1st half performance was terrible and the 2nd half immediately got worse (I didn't see it clearly, but why were Norwich awarded a free kick shortly after QPR kicked off - that led to the opening goal).

QPR just never got going in the 2nd half and like thousands of other fans I walked out after the 2nd and missed Mbenge's goal.

The last 3 games have certainly spoilt my mood over the festive period. These are normal QPR festive results and have been for decades and have got me wishing for a festive break as they do in other countries.

Not depressed as half expected this outcome.

Fwiw, I think we will now win comfortably against Sheff Weds.

Its QPR, so like most on here, have had a lifetime of disappointments or after the lord mayors show affairs, so have understood how to deal with it.I immediately attempt to eradicate it from the memory banks. So much practice.

Its annoying though, no doubt. This squad of players definitely has quality, so thats why poor performances or poor run of results impact.

We all know we are way better than that.

Our strikers and wingers have looked exactly what they are for the last 3 games. League one standard.

Burrell has been excellent for most part, work ethic, pace, pressing, but that boy cannot control a ball to save his life and is now looking burnt out.

I think Poku will improve but it will take a run of games. Desperately need Chair back and Hayden should keep his place in midfield.

Norwich just looked physically much stronger than us, but then, everybody does.

Felt for Morgan, he didn’t deserve that deflection. Will be a good player….in a couple of years.

I'll tell you what I thought of the performance - when the half time whistle went I would have gladly the taken the 0-0 and gone home.

I had the mother of all hangovers and thought don't worry the boys down the bush will sort it out for you..........I came home and sat in a dark room with a cold flannel on my head.

January is a always a dreadful month to get through and it does bring some mental health issues but I guess we all just have to dig deep grit our teeth and get through to February when the lighter evenings slowly start to remove the fog from the brain.

A QPR cup run would also give us a big shot in the arm......

The first half was the heady heights of mediocre, but the second was like we'd descended to the ninth circle of hell.

A bit optimistic thinking a cup run will lift the January gloom Hat. We can but live in hope until the the inevitable disappointment brings the fog back in.

Blimey, been bedbound with some illness so missed going to the Norwich game, but it's like a morgue on here.

It's been a lousy three games, but maybe a bit of perspective is needed. It's disappointing, but all the problems we knew the squad had all came to pass. All very fixable problems in January and next summer.

The glass is still half full.

It's fine. If we won every game we wouldn't be QPR.

This is what you signed up for. Often shite, sporadically good. It's the QPR way.

Amissis iugis verberare debemus.

'Losing to teams we should beat' in Latin. Put that on our badge and then have it inscribed on your headstone. This is the life. Complaining about QPR doing this is like complaining about having a sloppy shit after eating at a Wetherspoons.

Embrace it. It's always going to be mediocre. That's football for us.

Also, January is like the Monday morning of the year. Absolute shite time of year anyway. Got to diet off all that fking food and on work's like 'what can we do to have an even better year, team?'

Kill yourself, everyone else and me in that fking order, boss.

Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.

Mine is just slightly under half full. I’m normally quite ok if we lose but have had a good go. The last few games have been so turgid that I’m a bit concerned about the Weds game. No easy ones, but the confidence has gone.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?
