There's a cohort of our online support who absolutely detest Smyth to weird levels, but the messages he's received go beyond that into proper mental illness.

Unfortunately there's a lot of it about. In life and internet and society in general, but at QPR in particular there is definitely an unhinged weirdo or two within our midst who get off on anonymous hate campaigns via email and DM.

I've been receiving stuff like this for the last couple of years. Dozens of them... And I'm not the only one from the podcast/website circuit who's getting this stuff either. Always deeply personal and designed to cause maximum hurt and upset.

Mate, I don't have the words. It goes without saying that your Dad would be extraordinary proud of you. There are some absolute gutless cu nts out there, people who, for their own welfare, I hope will hopefully one day look back with embarrassment at stuff like that. You run a brilliant forum for your fellow fans, produce brilliant previews/reports etc, and traipse around the country watching Rangers finish 16th, in order to produce those write-ups. Loads of supports would kill to have someone producing such brilliant content.

Clive I’m just so sorry mate. Your original post in this thread is deeply shocking because it isn’t an ill informed drunken rant from a slightly thick person, it has taken some planning and thought. Deeply disturbed individual. It makes me concerned that we share a website and stadium with them.

It goes without saying that the time and effort you put into this website is one of my highlights of supporting the often disappointing Rangers. Thank you.

What sort of messed-up weirdo would you need to be, to even think about doing something like this, let alone taking the time and effort to actually do it.

I don't like those chants either, even when we find their decisions frustrating. I know the club issue statements about bad language etc, but I am not sure what action they can take when it is about 100 or so fans chanting those songs.

Well, the fanbase is not independent from the club given the fan forums and supporters organisations and the election of leaders for each of those groups. I also find it hard to believe it's not possible to firstly identify the ringleaders (through stewards) and secondly communicate to those season ticket holders in that section what is and isn't appropriate for ongoing behaviour and set out disciplinary action if warnings are not heeded.
